Frontstretch Sprint Cup Power Rankings : Top 15 After Pocono

The tricky triangle in Pocono threw everything at the drivers but the kitchen sink. There was rain, a new double-file restart procedure, and even a late-race fuel mileage gamble thrown in for good measure. As you might expect, with that many variables the final running order was turned upside down after 500 miles of competition. But the one place where stability held was at the top; and after Tony Stewart’s first win as an owner/driver, he did his best to solidify his reign atop our NASCAR Power Rankings.
But just how much of a lead did Stewart build over his competitors, and did any of the other fuel mileage losers see an empty tank slow down their momentum? Read on to see if your driver’s stint in the Pennsylvania mountains was good enough to see him rise up in our Top 15 list this week.
How The Rankings Are Calculated: Frontstretch does our power rankings somewhat similar to how the Associated Press does them for basketball or football — writers on staff will vote for the Top 20 on a 20-19-18-17-16-15… 3-2-1 basis, giving 20 points to their first place driver, 19 for their second, and so on. In the end, Mike Neff calculates the points, adds some funny one liners, and … voila! You have one batch of power rankings to serve to our fans.
