Wood Brothers Racing Lowe's Motor Speedway Preview

Friday May 16, 2008

Harrisburg, NC (May 15, 2008)-Wood Brothers Racing and Jon Wood are looking forward to taking the U.S. Air Force Ford F-150 to Lowe’s Motor Speedway this weekend hoping that the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 will bring them some good fortune.

In the wake of the media hoopla that surrounds the NASCAR Sprint All Star Race, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will hold a true showdown with Jon Wood shooting for a top run on Friday night, May 16th. Crew Chief John Monsam believes that the truck race is where the true race can be found. He said, “The All Star Race is a lot of great fun, but the Craftsman Truck race is a true race. We’re racing for points and Lowe’s Motor Speedway tends to be a great event for us.”

The no. 21 Wood Brothers Race Team is bringing a brand new Ford F-150 that was built during their off race weeks. Monsam commented on their progress. He said, “All of my guys worked really hard in the last few weeks to put this new truck together. We took it to the wind tunnel and the shaker rig. I’m feeling very positive and hopefully Friday night will be our night.”

Jon Wood tested with the no. 21 Ford Fusion Sprint Cup Series race car at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for two days last week in preparation for the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 25. The test was very positive as they left the qualifying runs for the last session of the two days. He finished with an official 11th place standing with a lap time of 29.618 seconds. This test has given Jon extra laps on the track and should help him in the truck race Friday night.

Watch Jon Wood and the no. 21 U. S. Air Force Ford F-150 in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 on Friday, May 16th at 7:30pm ET live on Speed.
