Dodge Motorsports Notes & Quotes - Coca-Cola Final Practice - Kasey Kahne

Sunday May 25, 2008

KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) HOW WAS THE CAR IN FINAL PRACTICE? “We were pretty decent in the last session. I think that we got close to what we were looking for. We tried to figure out some things on our Budweiser Dodge Charger for tomorrow night. We experimented a bit just to see how the car would react, but overall I’m pleased with the car that Kenny (Francis, crew-chief) and the guys have given me for the Coca-Cola 600 tomorrow.”

WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO DOUBLE-UP AND WIN BOTH THE ALL-STAR RACE AND COCA-COLA 600? “It would be great both for me personally and the entire Gillett Evernham Motorsports team. I think winning the All-Star Race has given us a lot of momentum heading into tomorrow night. I think that we have a legitimate shot at winning both races based upon how our car has performed here this weekend. We’ve worked hard on our Budweiser Dodge Charger the last few weeks and the results are starting to show. The (Coca-Cola) 600 is a long race. We have to stay out of trouble and try to be in position to win in the end. I know we have the car to win the race, I just have to give us a shot at being there in the end to win it.”

WHAT KIND OF RACING CAN WE EXPECT TOMORROW? “It’s tough to say. With the race starting late in the afternoon and ending at night, the balance of the car changes a lot. You don’t win the Coca-Cola 600 in the first 100 laps, but you can certainly lose it by doing something stupid early. You have to be patient for the majority of the 600 miles and get racy later in the race. Our car was really good at night in the All-Star Race and I would expect it to be the same tomorrow night.”
