WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE COCA-COLA 600 NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES RACE AT LOWE’S MOTOR SPEEDWAY, MAY 25, 2008.

· Dale Earnhardt Jr. led five times for 76 laps to WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in tonight’s Coca-Cola 600. Earnhardt Jr. has led at least one lap in 10 of the 12 races this season including the last seven consecutive races for a total of 527 laps.

· Earnhardt Jr. scored a fifth-place finish in tonight’s race, his fifth top-five and ninth top-10 of the season.

· UNOFFICIALLY Earnhardt Jr. is third in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship standings, 139 points behind leader Kyle Busch and 45 behind second-place Jeff Burton. Busch has a 125-point advantage over fourth-place Denny Hamlin.

· DID YOU KNOW? A different driver has led the most laps in each of the past six Coca-Cola 600 races.

· Kyle Busch leads Jimmie Johnson by one race (4-3) in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.

· EARNHARDT JR. QUOTES: “Well, we just saved gas at the end. We came in and topped off with about 62 to go. I was about two laps short and needed to save two laps. So me and Jeff [Gordon] sort of just set there and drafted a little bit and lifted real early getting in the corners and made it to the end. We ran good tonight and I was proud of my team. We tore the car up pretty bad when we blew the tire going into three. I thought we were done and then I got motivated again but the car wasn’t as fast. We were trying to hang on. We got lucky, same way those guys did last year. We were running second last year and Casey and those guys stretched it out and won the race. We were on the other side of the fence tonight so we will take it.”
