Sunday July 6, 2008
WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE COKE ZERO 400 NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES RACE AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY, JULY 5, 2008.
· Dale Earnhardt Jr. led nine times for 51 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in tonight’s Coke Zero 400. Earnhardt Jr. claimed the honors for the third time this season. He has led at least one lap in 13 of the 18 races this season for a total of 621 laps.
· UNOFFICIALLY Earnhardt Jr. was credited with an eighth-place finish in tonight’s race, his 12th top-10 of the season.
· UNOFFICIALLY Earnhardt Jr. is second in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship standings, 182 points behind leader Kyle Busch and 20 ahead of third-place Jeff Burton.
· EARNHARDT JR. QUOTES: THE FRONT OF THE CAR LOOKS LIKE YOU JUST RAN AT MARTINSVILLE. “Yeah, the last several laps it was rough out there and tried to do the best we could. Jeff got a great run on me and went to the outside and got the lead doing what he can to win the race and that’s what you’ve got to do. I hate feeling obligated to my teammates, too, so I don’t blame him. He had a good enough run that I don’t blame him for going for that. It shuffled us back a little bit and we tried to work our way back up to the front. We got back into third a couple of times. Matt got a good run. I wasn’t on my toes there watching him. He got a good shove and got on the outside of me. The bottom wasn’t where I wanted to be so I was trying to get back to the top and we were getting turned into everybody and wrecked and it bent something in the front end. On the backstraightaway Clint Bowyer turned me into the 29 real hard and it bent the front end and the steering wheel went off center. I was just trying to hang on from there on. I thought we were going to be okay. We got back to the top, about fourth in line. I guess the race being over with helped.”
· Kyle Busch leads the WIX Filters Lap Leader standings by two races (6-4) over Jimmie Johnson.

Our staff will be giving away a free T-Shirt to the reader who makes the best post in our Frontstretch Forum between now and the end of the season. So, what makes a good post? It’s pretty hard to impress us, but here are some things we are looking for:
Does your post spark passionate reactions from other readers? Are you commenting on meaningful NASCAR-related events? Do your posts have substance? In other words, “Dale Jr. is the best driver ever” or “Danica Patrick is hot” will not cut it.
So go to the Frontstretch Forums, post early, post often, and post well! We’ll announce the winner following the final race of the season at Homestead.
