Little Debbie, Ambrose, JTG/Daugherty Racing To Make Debut at Indianapolis

SPEEDWAY, Ind. – Little Debbie, Marcos Ambrose and JTG/Daugherty Racing hope to get a jump-start on their future during this week’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard when the new team makes its Sprint Cup Series debut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The team, which plans a full-time schedule next year, will make four selected appearances this year, kicking off with one of the biggest races of the stock car season.

“This is a dream come true,” Ambrose said. “I don’t know if I feel quite worthy of this honor. It will take time. I’ve got questions I can’t answer yet. As a team I think that it is a huge advantage to get out there and run against the best in the business. I’m sure that it will give us a head start on our 2009 campaign.”

JTG Racing currently fields a pair of Nationwide Series cars with Ambrose and Kelly Bires as drivers. The team’s expansion into the Sprint Cup Series this year includes the use of the No. 47 Ford Fusion.

“We’ve planned for this for years,” said team co-owner Tad Geschickter. “It’s every racer’s dream to compete at the highest level. This is our first step and we’re proud to take it with Little Debbie and Marcos. We have done a lot of testing leading up to this first race, and will use this weekend as our first benchmark versus the competition. We will leave this weekend with a clearer view on the things we need to work on as we prepare to run full time next season.”

Ambrose has one career start in Cup. He drove earlier this year for Wood Brothers Racing and was running in the Top 5 when he suffered transmission failure at Infineon Raceway at Sonoma, Calififornia.

The two-time Australian Ford V8 Supercar Series champion will approach this weekend with equal doses of speed and humility. Despite his success in the Nationwide Series, he knows the next step is significant.

“We have done a lot of work in preparation for this weekend and we know that we have a great deal of work ahead of us. Time is on our side and we need to give it our best effort this weekend, learn, and keep working toward next season.”

FAST & FUN FACTS: – Ambrose is 12th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series standings. – Ambrose is a two-time Ford V8 Supercar Series champion, a road-racing series in Australia. He won 27 races in that series. – Ambrose will make 12 selected appearances in the Sprint Cup Series this season, including four starts for JTG Racing. His next scheduled start for Little Debbie will at Watkins Glen International on Aug. 10.
