Gillett Evernham Motorsports Announces Chief Sales & Marketing Officer

STATESVILLE, N.C. – Gillett Evernham Motorsports announced today the hiring of Carl DeWitt “De” Cordell, Sr. as the NASCAR Sprint Cup team’s chief sales and marketing officer.
Cordell, 45, has served as head of sales and marketing at Raycom Sports since 1996 and will begin his duties with the Statesville, N.C. team on Oct. 27th.
“De brings a wealth of sports marketing experience that will enhance Gillett Evernham Motorsports’ value to our current and future partners, as well as great leadership skills to help build our team,” said GEM CEO Tom Reddin. “We see this as another step forward in our team’s quest to become the marquee team in motorsports.”
Cordell, a Charlotte resident and University of North Carolina graduate, said he looks forward to a new challenge.
“Gillett Evernham Motorsports offered a vision that was both intriguing and challenging and I think ultimately will be rewarding,” he said. “NASCAR’s explosive growth provides an ideal landscape for sponsors to extend their brands within its passionate fan base.”
In addition to serving in a variety of positions at Raycom over the last 12 years, Cordell has experience at HTS/O’s TV, a division of Group W. Broadcasting and the Louisville Redbirds AAA baseball team.
