NEWS AND NOTES FROM THE WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER PROGRAMNASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES

· TIED FOR THE LEAD: Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson are tied for the lead in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings (9-9) entering the October 11 Bank of America 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway (Concord, N.C.).

· Jimmie Johnson earned WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in the 2007 Bank of America 500 leading a race-high 95 laps.

· Jimmie Johnson leads the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship standings by 72 points over second-place Carl Edwards and is 77 ahead of third-place Greg Biffle.

· Dale Earnhardt Jr. led 76 laps to capture WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in the 2008 Coca-Cola 600 in May.

· DID YOU KNOW? In the 10 most recent Bank of America 500 races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, only two drivers in the 2008 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup have led the most laps: Jimmie Johnson (2007) and Tony Stewart (2003).

· Drivers that have led the most laps in the 10 most recent fall races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway:
2007: Jimmie Johnson, 95 laps
2006: Kasey Kahne, 37 laps
2005: Elliott Sadler, 112 laps
2004: Kasey Kahne, 207 laps
2003: Tony Stewart, 149 laps
2002: Jamie McMurray, 96 laps

· The driver leading the most laps has won five of the 10 most recent fall races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway:
2006: Kasey Kahne
2003: Tony Stewart
2002: Jamie McMurray
2001: Sterling Marlin
1998: Mark Martin

· The record for most laps led in a 500-mile race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway is 328 by Ernie Irvan in 1993.

· The record for most lead changes in a race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway is 59 in the 1979 Coca-Cola 600.

· The record for different leaders in a race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway is 21 in the 2005 Coca-Cola 600.
