DAVID GILLILAND, YATES RACING
No. 38 Ford. Drive one. Ford Fusion
LOWE’S MOTOR SPEEDWAY
OCTOBER 11, 2008
Quoting Ford. Drive one. driver David Gilliland on Charlotte:
“I really like racing at Charlotte because it’s an opportunity for us to race at home during the season. Charlotte is a very fast track where we have room to pass and make moves, but it also is a race that you have to make sure you have a strong car to perform all 500 miles of the race. Saturday night’s race is also challenging because as the sun goes down we have to make sure that we are able to adjust to the changing needs of our car. I’m looking ahead to this weekend’s race because the last time we raced at Charlotte in May we had major damage to our car thanks to another driver’s runaway tire, but this weekend our Ford. Drive one. team is ready to bring home a solid finish that we know we deserve at Charlotte.”
Quoting Ford. Drive one. crew chief Cully Barraclough on Charlotte:
“The car we’re bringing this weekend is the same car we tested a few weeks ago at Charlotte. This is also the same car we last ran at Bristol for the night race in August. We think that this car will be very successful this weekend based on the data we have from those earlier races and the test session. The emphasis of this weekend’s race will be to make sure that our car handles well in all kinds of scenarios since this race begins when the sun is still out and then finishes under the lights at night. A lot of handling changes occur when you change from day to night so we’ll spend practice sessions making sure that we’re happy with the car in all those situations.”
