Dodge Motorsports Notes & Quotes - Keys for Success - New Hampshire
Tuesday June 30, 2009
LOUDON, N.H., (June 27, 2009) – Each race weekend, random Dodge Motorsports crew chiefs, drivers, engine specialists and team members provide insight on the ‘Keys for Success’ for the upcoming race. This week, the green flag drops at the 1.058-mile oval of New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Lenox Tools 301.
Track: New Hampshire Motors Speedway (race 17 of 36 NSCS point’s events)
Race: LENOX Industrial Tools 301
Track Length: 1.058-miles (301 laps)
Race Record: Jeff Burton, 117.134 mph (July 13, 1997)
Trivia Question: What common vegetable was first grown in the United States during the 18th Century? (Answer Below)
Roy McCauley, Crew Chief, No. 12 Penske Racing Dodge Charger: “Track position is the key to success in Loudon. This will be NASCAR’s first test for the double-file restarts at a short track. It is going to change the face of the race. Historically, the inside line has been a ‘pick’ for the lead lap cars. Now the leaders are going to line up side-by-side which will be exciting for the fans. We tested at New Hampshire [Motor Speedway] in April for Goodyear which gives us a baseline for this weekend. It was 20 degrees colder then, but it gave David [Stremme] some track time and gave us a general idea of what we need for the race.”
Answer to Trivia Question: The first potato planted in the United States was at Londonderry Common Field, N.H. in 1719. The United States produces over 20.3 million tons of potatoes annually.*
