The Jeff Gordon Foundation Toasts A Decade of Caring With $2.5 Million Pledge

Charlotte, NC (October 16, 2009) The Jeff Gordon Foundation commemorated A Decade of Caring — its tenth anniversary — with friends and supporters at VanLandingham Estate on Wednesday where Gordon announced his Foundation will be donating and pledging $2.5 million this year. The Foundations funding will support several initiatives including the development of the Pediatric Pulmonary Lab and Community Outreach Program at the Jeff Gordon Childrens Hospital, the establishment of the Jeff Gordon Pediatric Cancer Research Fund at Riley Hospital for Children and the funding of the Phase I Long-Term Follow-Up Program focused on the effects of treatment on the health and quality of life of cancer patients. Looking back at the past ten years its amazing to see the tremendous growth of the Foundation and the number of children that we have been able to help, said Gordon. I am also pleased that we are able to provide such a large commitment this year even in these difficult economic times. Since its inception in 1999, The Jeff Gordon Foundation has awarded nearly $10 million to the countrys top childhood health organizations. These organizations are instrumental in helping tens of thousands of children facing serious illness. The partnerships developed over the years have brought much needed aid to patients and families with incredible financial burdens, provided life-saving medical treatment and help to fund promising new cancer research and treatment programs. To assist the Foundation this year a campaign called TEN Match was created to gather support and to celebrate the Foundations Ten Year Anniversary. For every donation of $10.00 or more, Gordon will personally match the contribution. Through generous donors, great strides in the support of pediatric cancer research and treatment and the Jeff Gordon Childrens Hospital continue to be made.
