Bill Lester earns Kansas Speedway pole

Nikki Krone · Friday July 1, 2005

Bill Lester and Mike Skinner have made it an all Bill Davis Racing front row for Saturday's O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 at the Kansas Speedway.  Lester earned his first pole of the season with a speed of 173.633 mph, with teammate Skinner starting beside him with his speed of 173.138 mph.  Rookie Todd Kluever will start third, followed by David Reutimann, Jack Sprague, Robert Huffman, Jimmy Spencer, Brandon Whitt, Ted Musgrave and Todd Bodine.  There were only 36 trucks on track, which means all trucks will be in the race on Saturday.

The weather, which was about 80 degrees and sunny, was much cooler than the 90+ degrees that drivers and fans normally experience while racing at the Kansas Speedway in July.  That may have contributed to the fact that 31 trucks broke the previous track record of 166.323 mph.

The trucks will take to the track Saturday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. for the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 and the race can be seen live on SPEED.
