Allgaier Victim of Circumstance at the Kentucky Speedway

Monday May 12, 2008

Sparta, KY (May 11, 2008)-Justin Allgaier was the victim of circumstance at the Kentucky Speedway for the running of the ARCA RE/MAX Series Drive Smart Buckle Up Kentucky 150 race after a spin in turn-2 involving nine-time series champion Frank Kimmel collected Allgaier and another competitor sending him home with a disappointing 21st place finish.
Allgaier started in the 14th place position for the 100 lap race and moved to his highest position of third but had to give up the track position for a needed pit stop. Allgaier intent on making it back to the top-five moved through the pack until he got caught up in another person’s spin on turn-two with less than 20 laps left in the event while running eighth. Allgaier made several stops to work on the damage but still a tire blew-out causing more damage to the No. 16 Hoosier Tire Midwest-AG Tech Chevrolet. He returned to pit lane catching a timely caution on the 1.5-mile speedway. After a red flag race pause and several green/white/checkered finish attempts, Allgaier crossed the finish line in the 21st place position at the Sparta, Kentucky race track.
“Not a good night for us,” Allgaier said. “We were running third and made a pit stop which put us back a little further in the pack. Frank (Kimmel) spun out and we were collected in it. That wrecked the car pretty bad but then a tire on the left blew out and that took care of what nose we had left. It’s just frustrating; we had a great car tonight and we just were in the wrong place. We’ll move on to Toledo and see what we can do.”
The ARCA RE/MAX Series moves to the Toledo Speedway for the running of the Hantz Group 200 by Federated Car Care Sunday, May 18 at 2:00pm.

Do you want the chance to win a free Frontstretch T-Shirt, and are you really good at talking about NASCAR? Well, we have the perfect opportunity for you. Our staff will be giving away a free T-Shirt to the reader who makes the best post in our Frontstretch Forum between now and the end of the season. So, what makes a good post? It’s pretty hard to impress us, but here are some things we are looking for:

Does your post spark passionate reactions from other readers? Are you commenting on meaningful NASCAR-related events? Do your posts have substance? In other words, “Dale Jr. is the best driver ever” or “Danica Patrick is hot” will not cut it.

So go to the Frontstretch Forums, post early, post often, and post well! We’ll announce the winner following the final race of the season at Homestead.
