Stock Car Saturday Night Returns with a Special Night Honoring Drivers Serving in the Armed Forces

Newberrytown, PA (May 13, 2008) The popular Stock Car Saturday Night Series returns to the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday, May 17, with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars and Four Cylinder Stock Cars. There will also be a special appearance of the PENNMAR Vintage Cars and the York Haven Auto Sales Mini Vans. Beginning the night will be a make up feature for the Late Models (postponed from April 26).

All drivers who have served in the Armed Forces will be asked to bring their cars to the front straightaway before the National Anthem for a special photo opportunity as they will be saluted and recognized for their service to our country.

Lineups for the Late Models, Street Stocks and Xtreme Stock Cars will be done by handicapping. The Four Cylinder Stock Cars and Mini Vans will draw for starting positions in their qualifying races until three feature events have been completed.

On Saturday, the pit gates will open 3:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 5:20 p.m. with qualifying races at 6:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for the Stock Car Saturday Night will be Adults (ages 18-59) $12.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $10.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $22.00 with a reduced price of $20.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.

There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

Racing action last weekend at Stock Car Saturday Night found Gary Potts of Mt. Wolf winning his first victory of the season in the Late Model division. Carl Billet from Carlisle picked up the postponed feature from last week over Gene Knaub. Newville’s Wes Alleman won the make-up Street Stock feature postponed from April 26. In the regularly schedule Street Stock main event, Halifax’s Craig Morgan claimed his first season victory. Lancaster’s Ray Broderick won his second Xtreme Stock feature of the season. Kendra Knaub of Dover won the first Women on Wheels Stock Cars feature of the season. The Speedway Auto Sales Women on Wheels Mini Van feature went to Kelly Young.

Wednesday Night Test & Tune Up Next at SSP on May 28

Newberrytown, PA (May 6, 2007) – The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be on May 28. There are no test & tune sessions schedule for May 14 or May 21. It is open to any type of racecars. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. The fuel pumps fro Miller’s Racing Parts will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night. Each class will receive 5 to 6 rounds of 6/8 laps each.

“The Outback Track at SSP”
Testing at the Outback Track scheduled for late April with racing beginning in mid to late May on Saturday mid-morning / afternoon. Gearing the “Outback Track” to the youth, the inside is 1/10 mile for Quarter Midgets with the outer perimeter measuring 1/7 mile for both karts and Bandolero Cars. The turns are 75 feet wide with the straight approximately 50 feet in width. More details will be released as they become available.

The open practice sessions will be open to all karts, quarter midgets and Bandolero Cars. Classes for the Summer Race Season will be determined based on the participation at the Open Practice Sessions in June.
