POST-RACE QUOTES & NOTES:

Donny Schatz, driver of the No. 15 Armor All/Chevy/ParkerStore/J&J for TSR:
“This has been pretty unbelievable that we’re fighting Mother Nature this much to get this season going. We did get a couple of races in, and both nights we missed making the dash by one spot, forcing us to start the feature deep in the field. I guess the only positive is that we were able to move forward.

“At Lernerville, we kept getting better as the night went on. The race was 35 laps and our best laps came during the last five. When we come back for the Don Martin Memorial in July, the race is five laps longer and hopefully we won’t have to come from 21st.

“Williams Grove is one of those places where I love to race, and right from the start our team was faced with some adversity. I was the first car to qualify, and before I could make half a lap, we had a part failure. (Crew chief) Ricky (Warner) and all the guys on this Tony Stewart Racing team got the car repaired in time for me to get one lap at the end of qualifying and we turned the fastest lap.

“Unfortunately, since we went out of order, we were scored 17th. We nearly overcame the early trouble in our heat, but came up one spot short of making the dash. The guys did a great job with the car in the feature and we got as far as we could. One more spot would have made it a good night, but we had to settle with it being a decent night.”

Kraig Kinser, driver of the No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/Chevy/J.D. Byrider Maxim for TSR:

“Both Lernerville and Williams Grove were different than I remembered them to be. The weather definitely played into things. All of the rain really left the tracks different from the way they usually are.

“This new format of one-lap qualifying really makes it tough. If you qualify at the bottom, you have to automatically dig yourself out of a hole at the beginning of the night. We’ve not been qualifying well and that hasn’t helped us. We have to battle a lot harder to make it into the A-main.

“At Williams Grove on Thursday, the rain really made the track different. We had never seen the bottom of the track that good at the start of the night. Again, we didn’t qualify where we needed to and we had to try to work our way out of the hole and missed the A-main.

Kraig Kinser, No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/Chevy/J.D. Byrider/Maxim (continued):

“We’re ready to head to Charlotte and Virginia this week. We’ll keep working toward putting Bass Pro Shops and Chevy up front.”
