Rain Wins Again at SSP on Saturday Night; Open Wheel Spectacular at SSP on Sunday featuring All Star 358 Sprint Car Summer Championship and ARDC Midgets
Newberrytown, PA (June 14, 2008) Rain was the winner as late afternoon storms and showers throughout the night on Saturday, June 14 forced the cancellation of the “Fab 4 Series” featuring a night of exciting wheel-to-wheel action that includes the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars and ARDC Midgets at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. The event will not be rescheduled. However, a makeup feature for the Xtreme Stock Cars postponed from Saturday, June 7 will be rescheduled for Saturday night, July 19.

Saturday night was also to be York Country Racing Club Night in which all YCRC members presenting a card will receive $2.00 off the grandstand general admission tickets. This will be moved to tomorrow’s event on Sunday, June 15.

On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15, a night of open wheel racing returns to SSP in a big way with the All Star 358 Sprint Car Summer Championship featuring the best drivers from Williams Grove, Lincoln, Selinsgrove and Trailways Speedways on neutral ground for the only time in 2008. The 20-lap 358 Sprint Car feature event will be pay $1,200 to the winner. The tire rule will be the same used at the regular tracks – (All right rear tires used must be a HOOSIER National Sprint Spec tire, size 105/18-15. Any SC compound tire is permitted). All other rules of the Central PA 358 Sprint Cars will prevail for this event. Mufflers are not required for the 358 Sprint Cars only. Raceievers will be mandatory. Lineups will be determined by a blind draw with an inversion determined by a draw from the 1st heat race winner.

Also racing on Sunday will be the second race of the weekend for the ARDC Midgets and the Legends Cars will also be in action.

On Sunday, the pit gates will open 3:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Practice begins at 5:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 6:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for the Father’s Day Special on Sunday will be Adults (ages 18-59) $14.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $12.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices on both days are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.

There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

Stock Car Saturday Night racing action returns on Saturday, June 21, with A.R.C.H. (Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown) Fan Club Night featuring the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Four Cylinder Stock Cars and PENNMAR Vintage Cars. There will also be a make-up Street Stock feature and PENNMAR Vintage Car Feature from the postponed May 17 race event. Racing action begins at 7:00 p.m. Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday Night Test & Tune Up Next at SSP on June 25

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be on June 25. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. The fuel pumps fro Miller’s Racing Parts will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits.

The Outback Track at SSP Ready for 2008 Action
The next Open Practice Session for the SSP Outback Track is set for Saturday, June 21. Gearing the “Outback Track” to the youth, the inside is 1/10 mile for Quarter Midgets with the outer perimeter measuring 1/7 mile for both karts and Bandolero Cars. The turns are 75 feet wide with the straight approximately 50 feet in width.

Near the end of the open practice on Saturday, drivers will be grouped together for exhibition races to better judge the equality of the classes. There will be no entry fees for these races for the next three weeks.

The open practice sessions will be open to all classes of karts, quarter midgets and Bandolero Cars. The practice sessions will also be open to all ages of drivers. Classes for the Summer Race Season will be determined based on the participation at the Open Practice Sessions in June.

On Saturday, the pit gates will open 10:30 a.m. with a driver’s meeting at 11:45 a.m. Open practice begins at 12:00 p.m. and will conclude at 3:00 p.m.

Open Practice pit pass prices for the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 8 & older; Children 7 years of age and under will be $2.00. Hand held infants are admitted free.

Everyone with a pit pass from the Open Practice at the Outback Track will receive the Repeat Fan Discount for that evening’s racing events.
