DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Academy Award winner Kevin Costner, whose latest film “Swing Vote” will be released nationwide Aug. 1, along with his rock band “Modern West” will perform an one-hour pre-race concert inside the Sprint FANZONE prior to the 50th annual Coke Zero 400 Powered by Coca-Cola NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, July 5.

Costner and his six-member “Modern West” rock band will perform on the Sprint FANZONE Entertainment Stage beginning at 5 p.m.

“It’s an unique and exciting opportunity to have an Academy Award winner such as Kevin Costner and his band Modern West entertain race fans in the Sprint FANZONE,” Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig said. “The pre-race concert is another reason for race fans to witness the excitement of NASCAR racing in person at ‘The World Center of Racing.’ ”

Costner produced, directed and starred in the epic western “Dances With Wolves,” which won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. He has also starred in blockbuster films such as “Bull Durham,” “Field Of Dreams,” “Open Range,” “Tin Cup” and “JFK.”

In the soon-to-be-released comedy “Swing Vote,” Costner plays a small-town nobody who ends up with the deciding vote in the election for the next President of the United States.

In August, 2006, Costner formed the rock band Modern West and made its debut at the “Field Of Dreams” film site in Dyersville, Iowa. Since then, the band has played in numerous venues across the United States and in Europe.
