Steven Brooks looks to rebound this weekend in the Show-Me State
By Steven Brooks Racing / M.P.H. Promotions
New Lenox, Illinois (Thursday, July 3, 2008): 20-year-old Steven
Brooks was the 2007 ASA Late Model Series Most Improved Driver despite
last season being his rookie campaign in the Lexington, Michigan based
series.
After a successful 2008 Florida Speedweeks down at New Smyrna
Speedway, the New Lenox, Illinois driver was ready to begin the 2008
racing season in the ASALMS Northern Division with a world of momentum
behind him.
Although the first three events of the season haven’t exactly gone as
planned for the Prairie State Sophomore, he remains optimistic as the
ASALMS Northern Division heads to the famed high-banks of I-70
Speedway in Odessa, Missouri this Saturday, July 5, 2008 for the Light
Up The Night 150.
“I’m excited about I-70, last year we qualified fourth quick in the
June race, but had some mechanical problems.” He explained. “We have
had a really busy past couple of weeks since the Toledo wreck we had
to replace everything from the firewall forward.”
“Our team has had a good car at all the races so far, but have not
been able to put together the finishes that I know we should have.” He
added. “We just need a solid Top 10 run at I-70 so we can get some
momentum building for the rest of the season as our schedule starts to
get really busy.”
The last on-track action for Brooks was a moment he’d rather forget as
he destroyed his one and only car in a vicious looking wreck at Toledo
Speedway in the Glass Breaker 125 back on June 1st. Earlier that day,
he accomplished a nice goal by winning the GM Performance Parts
Shootout, his first win of any kind in a Late Model!
“I’m just glad that we are out of the month of June! Now hopefully our
luck takes makes a change for the better.” Brooks remarked as he and
his Steven Brooks Racing Team prepare to make the trip to the Show-Me
State. “Besides picking up my first win in the Shootout race at Toledo
we’ve had nothing but poor luck.” He added.
The damage to Brooks’ ride from Toledo was too severe to fix in time
for the next scheduled event just six days later on June 7th at
LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin for the River
Run 100.
With no car to race, 5K Motorsports stepped up and offered Brooks the
use of their third car! “I really want to thank Ken and Larry Wills
and everyone at 5K Motorsports for helping us out at
LaCrosse when we where not able to make the repairs necessary after
our crash at Toledo.” An appreciative Brooks relayed.
“Everyone at 5K Motorsports really went out of their way by staying
late and getting to the shop early so we could get the car ready and
we I could not say thanks enough to all of them.” He ended.
Now with the primary machine fixed, Brooks is eager to get back going
and pick up a few spots in the season long points chase. Currently,
the 20-year-old is 15th in the ASALMS Northern Division Points
Standings, 80 markers out of the Top 10.
For the remainder of the 2008 season, Brooks will steer his own Steven
Brooks Racing Chevrolet Impala with sponsorship from; Midwest Sign and
Lighting as well as Benda Manufacturing, the Frangella Family,
National Railway Equipment, Parvin-Clauss Signs, Hoffman Collision,
and M.P.H. Promotions.
In addition, Brooks is actively involved in the St. Jude’s Childrens
Research Hospital as well as Race Against Drugs (R.A.D.)

Does your post spark passionate reactions from other readers? Are you commenting on meaningful NASCAR-related events? Do your posts have substance? In other words, “Dale Jr. is the best driver ever” or “Danica Patrick is hot” will not cut it.
So go to the Frontstretch Forums, post early, post often, and post well! We’ll announce the winner following the final race of the season at Homestead.
