John Bolen Rebounds for a Fourth Place Finish in Nashville

ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour Regular Gets Back on Track at The Music City Motorplex
CONCORD, NC (July 8, 2008) – A good way to test a driver is to see how they can rebound after a bad finish or just terrible luck. Picking up and moving on when you in a rut is hard to do, but don’t tell that to Jasper, Alabama’s John Bolen. After getting a win taken away last week for a technical infraction, Bolen packed up and took off for a new track and a fresh start. The positive results came quickly as Bolen had a rocketship in the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour event at Music City Motorplex in Nashville. A warm summer night ended with a fourth place finish in the “RC Cola / MoonPie 100”.
“We showed up with intentions of regaining our composure,” said Bolen. “That’s what we came up here with the intentions of doing and that’s what we did. We had good run after started in the middle of the pack. We passed cars all night and we didn’t get passed at all. It was a good boost after what had happened down at Five Flags Speedway (FL), we’re real happy with our weekend.”
Bolen’s weekend had a strange twist to it as the race leader was disqualified for an illegal part on his car. Bolen could relate so easily because only eight days earlier he faced the same problem in Florida.
“I told Preston (Peltier) I know how you feel man,’ But last week people were saying that to me and unless you’re going through it at the time happens you really don’t know how it feels,” said Bolen. “It’s tough, it’s probably the hardest thing to deal with in racing, and I don’t know what else could be any harder.”
Bolen looked all weekend for the right groove and they didn’t find it until race time.
“All weekend, we could run the high groove and that was our plan,” added Bolen. “When they dropped the green flag the groove moved down. I expected it to move up, we actually picked up two or three tenths by moving down. The track didn’t do what thought it was going to do, then again it was a new track for us.”
Bolen liked his Nashville trip so much he is going back up in two weeks for the CRA Super Series race at the Music City Motorplex, TN. The All American 150 will be run Sunday July 20th.
“I am really pumped to go back and race at Nashville and I think we learned enough to where we can be a contender. We know what we want to do and I think we will be competitive.”
