CRA Super Series Ready For Another Epic Nashville North/South Battle In This Sunday's All American 150

Salem, IN (July 16, 2008) – The historic Music City Motorplex at the Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee is celebrating its 50th Anniversary Season and the track has seen some great North/South stock car racing battles over the years. The CRA Super Series is ready to continue that great tradition with another epic North/South battle in this Sunday’s All American 150. The event was originally scheduled for March 29th, but was postponed to March 30th because of weather and then postponed again until this Sunday also because of weather and poor track conditions because of the heavy rain.
The best drivers from the CRA Super Series and some of the best late model drivers in the country will come to Nashville on Sunday in search of the coveted Copley Guitar Trophy that the winning driver receives for winning an e vent at the Music City Motorplex. The winner will also receive a $5000 first place payoff, the top three finishers in Sunday’s All American 150 will all receive a guaranteed start in the prestigious Adam Petty Memorial All American 400 CRA Super Series event at the Music City Motorplex on November 2nd.
“Considering the state of the current economy we are very pleased with the great field of cars entered for Sunday’s event,” remarked Glenn Luckett, Director of the CRA Super Series. “We all love coming to race at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville. It’s a great racetrack with a tremendous amount of racing history and a great town to come visit. We look forward to Sunday’s event and building the momentum for another great All American 400 event in November!”
Drivers from 16 states and Canada are entered for Sunday’s event led by former Nashville winner’s John VanDoorn, Boris Jurkovic, Eddie Hoffman and Ryan Crane. VanDoorn won last seasons CRA Super Series All American 400 after almost going a lap down while waiting to pit for tires. VanDoorn pitted after a caution, got his new tires, charged through the field and made a late pass on Jason Hogan to get the victory. Jurkovic, currently second in CRA Super Series points and winner of last Sundays series event at Plymouth Speedway, won the CRA Super Series All American 400 event in 2006.
Eddie Hoffman, currently leading the ASA late Model Northern Series in wins and points, has won three ASA Late Model Series events at the Music City Motorplex, but is still looking for his first win at Nashville with the CRA Super Series. Ryan Crane picked up a Nashville victory in the ASA Southeast Series event just a few weeks ago on July 5th. All four of the drivers mentioned above will be looking to add another Copley Guitar Trophy to their collection, but will have plenty of competition!
Two-time CRA Super Series Champion, and current series points leader Scott Hantz leads a strong group of CRA Super Series drivers entered for Sunday’s event. Hantz leads the series with three victories this season, but has struggled in the past at the series Nashville events, he will be looking to change that=2 0this Sunday. Other top series drivers entered includes Rick Turner, Jason Dietsch, Jason Shively, Terry Fisher Jr., JR Roahrig and Kenny Tweedy.
Aaron Pierce leads a strong group of series K & N Filters Rookie drivers entered, Pierce is coming off a second place finish last Sunday, his best finish of the season. Hartsville, Tennessee native Zach Taylor, currently second in K & N Filters Rookie points is looking forward to coming back to his home track this Sunday. Other top series rookies entered are Robert Maynor and Adam Purdy. The CRA drivers will represent the states of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois and Arizona.
Alabama’s top late model drivers are entered including Johnny Brazier, Josh Hamner, Josh Bolen, Jeff Letson and Martin Pierce. Some of Florida’s best are coming including Justin Drawdy, Kurt Jett, and Johanna Long, the teenage daughter of Florida veteran Donald Long. Some of Kentucky’s best late model drivers will be on hand including veteran Keith Gardner, Jeff Berg, Blake Hillard, Don Young and Jared Smith. North Carolina ace Dennis Schoenfeld is entered and will ha ve Ontario, Canada’s Steve Arpin as a teammate, a dirt modified veteran who will be making his first ever late model start. Colorado’s Mitch Cobb is entered driving for NASCAR great Bill Elliott’s Driver Development Team lead by former late model great Ricky Turner. Other top drivers entered include Georgia’s Russell Fleeman, Texas hot shoe Casey Smith, Oklahoma’s Donnie Wilson, Nebraska’s Josh Krug and Tennessee’s Tony Ponkaukas.
Pit gates will open on Sunday at 8:30am Central Time. Practice will begin at 12noon with qualifying at 2pm. The All American 150 is set to take the green flag at 3pm. The All American 150 is part of the 50th Anniversary Season celebration this weekend. Friday the track will feature the Old School Racing event with NASCAR greats Geoff Bodine, Jack Ingram, Harry Gant and Dave Marcis. On Saturday the NASCAR Camping World East Series will be in action along with the Music City Motorplex late models in a 125 lap event.
