Chase Mattioli Overcomes Music City Adversity in Liquid Fence Hot Rod

Wednesday July 23, 2008

Pocono, PA (7-22-08). This past weekend the NASCAR Camping World East Series rolled into the Music City Motorplex for the Strutmasters.com 150, presented by Dollar General. The date was a momentous one with the legendary facility celebrating its 50th Anniversary of NASCAR asphalt racing. The NASCAR Camping World Series is used by a number of NASCAR Sprint Cup teams to develop young talent, such as Joey Logano (2007 Series Champ), Austin Dilllon (Richard Childress’s grandson) and Jeffery Earnhardt (nephew of Dale Jr.) and is probably one of NASCAR’s most competitive series. The night proved to an exciting one as young Chase Mattioli grappled with the track’s fast pace and its high banks.

The day started out challenging for 18 year old Mattioli when the hood of his #10 Team Liquid Fence Ford flew off during the first practice session. Never being deterred by adversity, Team Liquid Fence worked fast and diligently in the sweltering southern summer heat and Mattioli was able to get the car back on track and qualify 27th for the race.

Starting in the rear of a stellar field of competitors, Mattioli quickly began to navigate his way to the front with help from his veteran spotter and former ARCA Series Champion, Andy Hillenburg. Knowing that the high banks of the Music City Motorplex are notorious for wearing out tires, Mattioli drove a smart and conservative race, saving his tires for a late race surge.

By lap 140 of the 150 lap event, Mattioli had worked his way into the top ten, when he cut his left rear tire on debris. A lightening quick pit stop by his Team Liquid Fence pit crew got Mattioli back on the track to come home 14th in only his third NASCAR Camping World East Series event.

Reflecting on the event Mattioli commented “things weren’t looking good, especially after that first practice and problem with the hood. But this team doesn’t know what it means to quit, and that’s why we ended up finishing as well as we did”.

The Strutmasters.com 150, presented by Dollar General will air on Speed Channel on July 30th at 1pm Eastern.

With two top-fifteen finishes in only three starts in the Camping World Series, Mattioli looks to be a contender for upcoming races at Lime Rock, CT (August 16th) and Mansfield, OH( August 23rd). Mattioli’s next race will be at Pocono Raceway, in the ARCA RE/MAX Series on August 2nd.

The Liquid Fence® Company, (http://www.liquidfence.com/) Chase’s primary sponsor, makes all-natural animal repellents, organic plant boosters and DEET-free botanical insect repellents.

Looking to the future, Chase will balance a freshman year at Fordham University while preparing for a 2008 Rookie for the Year title in the ARCA-RE/MAX Series or the NASCAR Camping World Series, with the possibility of some endurance road races.

Message Board Quote of the Week: “I don’t see how Rusty + DEI + COT = competitive on the racetrack in 2009. I do see how Rusty could hook a sponsor, though, which DEI needs more than ever with Paul Menard leaving and taking the Menards money with him.” Scott B on rumors that Rusty Wallace would be making a return to NASCAR behind the wheel of a DEI-owned machine
