Christine is the Late Model Winner at Stock Car Saturday Night at SSP; Morgan and Broderick Also Winners

Newberrytown, PA (July 26, 2008) – Stock Car Saturday Night racing action on Saturday night, July 26 (a.k.a. Christmas in July) at the Susquehanna Speedway Park found Manchester’s Randy Christine Jr. winning his second Late Model main event of the season. Craig Morgan of Halifax also picked up his second Street Stock division win of the season. Lancaster’s Ray Broderick won his fifth Xtreme Stock feature in 2008. Dover’s Kendra Knaub won the Women on Wheels Stock Car feature. Kenny Latz of Etters picked up his first career York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature.

Randy Christine Jr. 20-lap Late Model feature event took the early lead from outside the front row to lead every lap for the win. Cam Zeigler finished a season best in second, followed by Bud Witmer, Jake Jones and Travis McClelland. Carl Billet and Zeigler won their qualifying heat races.

The 20-lap Street Stock feature event began Mike Herman and Chad Smith swapping the lead a few times over the first seven laps. Craig Morgan patiently waited and made his move on the eighth lap to take the lead. Morgan went on to win the feature event over Eric Walker and Smith. Paul Morgan finished fourth followed by George Eash in fifth. Smith and Walker won their respective heat races.

In Xtreme Stock Car action, Chris Heller took the early lead and battled with Ray Broderick and Mike Zeigler for the lead over the first half of the season. Sam Rial also had the lead from lap 15-18. At the end, Ray Broderick was victorious over his son Donnie Broderick and Alex Updegraff. Adam Smith and Ron Vance finished fourth and fifth respectively. Ray Broderick and Vance won their qualifying heat races.

In the 15-lap Classic Car feature event, Bill Brown Sr. picked up the win after taking the lead on lap eight. Roland Brown finished second followed by Joe Snodgrass. Jim Crocker and Charlie Summers wounded out the top five. Bryan Diehl and Bill Brown Sr. won their heat races.

The 10-lap Women on Wheels Stock Car feature began with Nancy Horan Frye grabbing the early lead. Kendra Knaub grabbed the lead from Frye on the 8th circuit and went on for the feature win. Frye finished second followed by Renae Luckenbaugh and Beth Burhman.

Kenny Latz of Etters wired the field in the non-stop 10-lap York Haven Auto Sales Feature events to take his first career win. Finishing second was point leader Daryl Sipe all the way from a thirteenth place starting position. Jeff Svendsen started 10th and finished third. Chad Gracey and Bill Wise rounded out the top five.

Stock Car Saturday Night racing action returns on August 2, with the return of the Fab 4 Series featuring the return of the exciting wheel-to-wheel action of the wingless ARDC Midgets as well as the Late Models, Street Stocks and Xtreme Stocks each with 25-lap feature events. It will also be Camera & Autograph Night in which all fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite driver on the frontstretch midway through the night. Racing action begins at 7:00 p.m. Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday Night Test & Tune Up Next at SSP on August 6

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be on August 6. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. The fuel pumps fro Miller’s Racing Parts will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits.
