Fab Four Series Returns to SSP on Saturday Night Along With the Popular Camera & Autograph Night

Newberrytown, PA (July 29, 2008) – Racing action returns on Saturday, August 2, with the fourth of five races for the “Fab 4 Series” featuring a night of exciting wheel-to-wheel action that includes the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars and ARDC Midgets. All “Fab 4” features will be 25-laps in distance except for the ARDC Midgets which will remain at 20 laps. This is an extra five laps from regular season point races. This series will conclude with a point champion for the special “series-within-a-season” at the end of the year. The “Fab 4 Series” events also include Saturday, April 12; Saturday, May 3; Saturday, June 14 (cancelled due to rain); Saturday, August 2; and Saturday, September 13. In the “Fab 4 Series” events, the Late Model winner will receive $1,000; the Street Stock winner will receive $500 and the Xtreme Stock winner will receive $400.

The third of four Clean Technologies Young Guns Street Stock 5-lap dash races will also take place this Saturday night featuring all drivers ages 21 and younger. The Young Guns Street Stock Dash Races will run in conjunction with the Fab 4 Special events.

Saturday night will also be the very popular annual Camera & Autograph Night in which all fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers with their cars on the frontstretch before the feature events begin.

On Saturday, the pit gates will open 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:25 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for the Fab Four Series Event on Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $14.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $12.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17. Regular Stock Car Saturday Night grandstand admission is $2.00 less on those nights.

A special $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from last Saturday nights races will be in place for this Saturday’s events. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

Last Saturday night, July 26 (a.k.a. Christmas in July) at the Susquehanna Speedway Park found Manchester’s Randy Christine Jr. winning his second Late Model main event of the season. Craig Morgan of Halifax also picked up his second Street Stock division win of the season. Lancaster’s Ray Broderick won his fifth Xtreme Stock feature in 2008. Dover’s Kendra Knaub won the Women on Wheels Stock Car feature. Kenny Latz of Etters picked up his first career York Haven Auto Sales Mini Van feature.

Wednesday Night Test & Tune Up Next at SSP on August 6

The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be on August 6, 2008. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. The fuel pumps fro Miller’s Racing Parts will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits.

Racing at the SSP Outback Track Returns on Saturday, August 2

Newberrytown, PA (July 29, 2008) The next race for the SSP Outback Track is set for Saturday, August 2. The pit gates will open 10:30 a.m. with a driver’s meeting at 11:45 a.m. Open practice begins at 12:00 p.m. and racing at 1:00 p.m. Gearing the “Outback Track” to the youth, the inside is 1/10 mile with the outer perimeter measuring 1/7 mile. The turns are 75 feet wide with the straight approximately 50 feet in width.

Admission prices for the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 8 & older; Children 7 years of age and under will be $2.00. Hand held infants are admitted free.

The classes for both the karts and quarter midgets will be developed as the summer season progresses. There will be no sanctioning body affiliation for either karts or quarter midgets, but the technical/specification rules will be very similar to the major sanctioning groups for these types of cars (W.K.A. and QMA). There will be minor changes that will be announced as the season progresses. The entry fees for each class will be $15.00 per entry and participants may enter more than one class on a raceday. Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class. No participants will be denied racing during the summer season. SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.

Everyone with a pit pass from the Open Practice at the Outback Track will receive the Repeat Fan Discount for that evening’s racing events. There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. The first race event for the SSP Outback Track last Saturday was very successful by all standards on Saturday, July 26. Class winners include Jake McConnell (Quarter Midgets); Garrett Updike (Jr. Sportsman II Karts – Blue Plate); and Chase Donley (Kid Karts / Pee Wee).
