Red Bull Driver - Scott Speed's Pocono Recap
Sunday August 3, 2008
POCONO RACEWAY PENNSYLVANIA 200 ENTRY: No. 2 Red Bull Toyota, Scott Speed RACE: Pennsylvania 200 TRACK: Pocono Raceway, Long Pond, PA DATE: August 2, 2008 RESULT: Second Place +SPEED TAKES POINTS LEAD Scott Speed and his No. 2 Red Bull Toyota Camry headed into Pocono Raceway this past weekend with the ARCA RE/MAX Series for the second time this year. Speed went into the 2.5 mile triangle 55 points out of the lead, but emerged 95 points ahead when it was all said and done. From the word go Speed was on a mission and it showed on the track. Having to baby his gears every time he shifted during the race, due to a driveshaft problem, Speed along with the rest of his crew held their breath throughout the 80 lap race. Its a bit of a funny feeling when youre sitting on a time bomb getting ready to explode, said Speed. Even with his driveshaft vibrating vigorously, Speed battled back and forth for the lead throughout the race with eventual race winner, Justin Allgaier. RE/MAX Series Championship point standings by 95 points over Matt Carter. Overall we had a great day, said Speed. I was better on long runs and Justin (Allgaier, race winner) was an amazing points day, so I am very happy with how things turned out. Now we just have to keep it.
