POST-RACE QUOTES & NOTES:

Donny Schatz, driver of the No. 15 Armor All/Chevy/ParkerStore/J&J for TSR: “If we would have gotten one spot better Sunday, we would have kept up with Mother Nature this week. I was really happy to get the win Wednesday night. Kraig (Kinser) did a great job in the Bass Pro car, but my job is to win as many races as I can. That was a big night for Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) and pretty cool for us to finish first and second.

“My crew (Rick Warner, Shane Bowers, and Kyle Sundby) did a great job this week, and I can’t thank them enough. Sunday night, they gave me a fast car and we almost made it two-for-two, but came up one spot short. These last two races have given everyone involved with TSR something to feel really good about down the stretch.

“Now it’s on to Eldora for Chevy Weekend. We didn’t run as well as we wanted to during the Kings Royal, so we’ll get another shot Friday night. A lot of our sponsors will be there, so hopefully we can have another one-two TSR finish and keep on rolling.”

Kraig Kinser, driver of the No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/Chevy/J.D. Byrider Maxim for TSR:
“I thought last week was good by getting our first win of the season and scoring four top-10s, but we just keep getting better. The guys on this Bass Pro Shops team (Steve Swenson, Mike Cool, and Bob Curtis) keep giving me great race cars. On Wednesday, I thought we were going to get our second win, but I got caught in traffic and Donny (Schatz) was just a bit better. Second isn’t what we wanted, but I guess if you are going to lose one, finishing behind your teammate makes it easier to accept.

“We’ve been able to qualify better, lately, and follow it up by racing well in our heat race. Starting up front has helped, but everyone on this team is doing a great job. Coming off a second and fourth Sunday night really gives us a lot of momentum heading to Chevy Weekend at Eldora.

“The season is winding down and we’ve definitely found our groove, it seems. I wish we had a lot more than 14 races to go, but we’ll do our best to keep running up front from here on out.”
