3rd Annual Cumberland Truck Equipment Susquehanna Showdown Postponed to Sunday, October 5 Due to Rain; Possible $28,000 to Win For the 50 Lap Late Model Event
Newberrytown, PA (September 27, 2008) – The 3rd Annual Cumberland Truck Equipment Susquehanna Showdown scheduled for Saturday night, September 27 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park has been postponed due to continuous rain showers hitting the speedway on Saturday. The race is presented by Cumberland Truck Equipment and W&W Racing Tires has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 5. The 50-lap Late Model feature winner is guaranteed $3,000-to-win with the chance to win an additional bonus of $25,000 in victory lane making it a possible $28,000-to-win. Other bonus prizes are available from Bernheisel Racecars; AFCO Racing Products; Miller’s Racing Parts and more. Late Model heat races are presented by Blazer’s Body Shop and pay $25.00 to win, $15.00 for second and $10.00 for third. The original raindate for Sunday, September 28 will not be used due to the unfavorable conditions of the speedway and forecasted weather which would make it impossible to have the grounds ready for racing.
Former winners of the Susquehanna Showdown include Scott Richwine (2006) and Tyler Hershey (2007). A bonus of $25,000 is available for the winning driver in victory lane as two envelopes from 20 envelopes will be drawn. That driver will be the winner of the bonus by picking the two matching envelopes. The bonus money will be paid a later date once the winning envelopes are verified. All qualifying will be done through heats, C-Main and B-Main events. There will be an inversion drawn for the feature event (either 4, 6 or 8 / 3, 6 or 9 depending on the number of heat races needed). A blind draw will determine the heat race lineups.
There will also be a Legends Cars Regional Qualifier Race and the Inaugural Mini Van World Championships. The top finisher in each division (Pro, Masters, Semi-Pro) in the Legends Cars feature will receive an automatic provisional starting spot for the 2008 Legends Cars Dirt Nationals. Although the Legends Cars event will not be a part of the points series which ends on Sunday, September 28, the regional qualifier provisionals will still be in place as well as points being awarded for the National Legends Cars Touring Series.
An entry fee is required for the Late Models and Legends Cars and the entry form may be downloaded from ww.sspracing.net. or picked up at Miller’s Racing Parts in Mechanicsburg, PA. Specification rules for the Late Models may also be found on the Susquehanna Showdown Flyer on the Website. Entries for the upcoming race on October 5 will still be accepted for all divisions.
