Who will be the King of the Short Track?
Monday October 13, 2008
ASA Late Model Series – Lexington, Michigan, October 13th 2008
The ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts will close out
the 2008 season with a blockbuster event at the Memphis Motorsports Park
“The King’s Ransom 300”. This all division all team invitational will be
held on November 14th and 15th and is sure to be one of the most memorable
events of the season.
Top teams from every division past and present are likely to throw their
hat in the ring at this top event. The King’s Ransom unlike any other
ASALMS event in the history will be 300 laps. It will be held at the
Memphis Motorsports Park following The NASCAR Nationwide Series Kroger On
Track For The Cure 250 (October 24-25)
Memphis Motorsports Park has established itself as one of the most popular
and versatile racing facilities in the country, playing host to more than
200 events a year, including the best that NASCAR and NHRA have to offer.
The ASA Late Model Series now in it’s 6th year of racing will offer the
teams one of the best Season Finales in Short Track Racing. The event
will be on a bias ply tire to help even the playing field for all
divisions as well as teams that have never competed with the series. With
so many tracks and other series using a modification of our rules package
we will be able to accommodate most teams within the late model circuit.
This is a great chance for ASALMS teams to go up against some other series
top teams and take the top spot as a late model Champ without division.
All late model Champions of the 2008 season no matter what series or
division are invited to participate. All Champions that meet the criteria
will be gifted with a guaranteed provisional to start the event.
The King’s Ransom will take us all to a higher level; higher stakes,
higher purse and most of all the highest title of the season “The King of
Short Track Racing”. Whoever wins this event will take the title that
spans beyond their domain, the best of the best; Champion of Champions.
It is a pleasure to announce that Stephen Leicht our 2005 Champion will
return to compete for this title. Stephen has made his name in the world
of racing through sheer determination and flawless skill. Stephen Leicht
will join Jeff Burton as the co-driver of Richard Childress Racing’s No.
29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet team for the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series
season.
The ASALMS will work with all series and tracks to ensure that a wide
variety of competitors can come out and compete in an equal playing field.
We look forward to making this an annual event and tradition that can
mark the end of each season.
The King’s Ransom 300 will also mark the 3rd event in the O’Reilly’s
Triple Crown Challenge. The O’Reilly’s Triple Crown Challenge was a three
event Challenge that offered any team that could win all three events a
chance at $100,000 payout. Sean Murphy of SS Green Light Racing has won
the 1st two events; O’Reilly’s Raceway Park in April and Salem Speedway in
July. The final event of the Triple Crown will be at Memphis Motorsports
Park.
