POST-RACE QUOTES & NOTES:
Donny Schatz, driver of the No. 15 Armor All/Chevy/ParkerStore/J&J for TSR:
“The guys on this Armor All team (Rick Warner, Shane Bowers and Kyle Sundby) are doing a great job. This is the time of the year when we are testing for next year. It’s a great feeling to know that next year’s stuff is winning right now.
“I’m happy all the weather we had on Saturday night stayed away and we got the race in tonight. We had everything going right tonight. Any time you can set fast time, win your heat, the dash and the feature, a lot of things have to go your way. We knew there was a good chance the rubber was going to come in during the feature. My guys put the right tires on, and I just had to be smart and pick my spots.
“We’re happy to win another feature in this Tony Stewart Racing car for all of our sponsors. Next weekend, we’ll be back at it, looking to keep things going this way. We’ve only got five races left and we’re hoping to win as many of them as we can.”
Kraig Kinser, driver of the No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/Chevy/J.D. Byrider for TSR:
“We had another one-race weekend since the weather just wouldn’t cooperate out here. We were hoping to get a couple of nights in so we could keep building some momentum to finish the year.
“On Sunday night, we just missed the heat inversion from qualifying and that put us behind. I thought we had a shot in the heat race, but I got into the inside berm, broke some parts and ended up having to stop. The Bass Pro Shops guys (Mike Cool, Steven Swensen and Bob Curtis) got me back out there and we were able to race back into the top-five. The track got locked down within the first few laps and you really couldn’t get out of the rubber, so we weren’t able to come forward like we hoped to.
“Hopefully, we when we return to California next weekend, we can have another weekend like we did in our last stop in California at the Gold Cup.”
