FUEL STRATEGIES, PENALTIES AND RACE-ENDED CRASHES CAUSE HEARTBURN AND INDIGESTION FOR ALL-STAR DRIVERS IN THE TOP 10 TUMS MOMENTS

Tuesday November 4, 2008

FORT WORTH, Texas. (Nov. 4, 2008) – The latest stop of the 2008 racing season at the Texas Motor Speedway for the Dickies 500 in Fort Worth, Texas, had stars and fans of the Sprint Cup Series experiencing heartburn.  From misplayed fuel strategies to race-ending wrecks, everyone from fans to big-name drivers experienced more than a few TUMSâ moments in Texas.  Each weekend PRN lead anchor Doug Rice picks the Top 10 TUMS Moments from the weekend’s racing activities.

This week’s Top 10 TUMS honors go to:

10. Reed Sorenson brought out the yellow flag when an oil line came off his Target Dodge and left him several laps down for the entire race.

9.   Kurt Busch qualified poorly on Friday, but the Miller Lite Dodge clawed its way into the top-10 Sunday only to lose a cylinder before being forced to the garage.

8.   Tony Stewart tried to win one more for Joe Gibbs Racing, but never got the Home Depot Toyota into contention.

7.   Texas failed to provide a win for several winless notables including Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick. The clock is ticking fast for these drivers with only two races remaining.

6.   Kasey Kahne’s struggles continued after he got lapped by Carl Edwards and was penalized another lap for jumping the start.  A Budweiser would have been a welcomed treat after that kind of day.

5.   Sunday was another rough day on the track for Elliott Sadler.  His car ran miserable and he was penalized for an uncontrolled tire on pit road.  Hang in there Elliott, it's almost time for you to enjoy deer hunting season.

4.   It appeared that Jeff Gordon had played the fuel mileage game to perfection only to be outdone by Carl Edwards. Gordon has not gone winless since his rookie season in 1993.  With only two races remaining, Gordon’s winning streak is in grave danger.  If Gordon had won, Hale Hughes, an oil-well worker from Texas, would have won a million dollars in a Dickies-sponsored contest.  Hughes is a guy that could use some TUMS.

3.   Dale Earnhardt Jr rallied from a lap down and appeared to be headed for a top-five finish.  Instead he ran out of gas with two laps to go and finished 20th.

2.   Juan Pablo Montoya was crashed by David Gilliland and his car was so damaged he couldn’t even drive it back into the garage.  Montoya would later chat with Gilliland in the garage and referred to him as "that idiot" in radio interviews.

1.   David Gilliland crashed Montoya but somehow managed to get his own car collected in the wreck. You're not supposed to take yourself out.  NASCAR then tells Gilliland he's done for and parked him …at least he beat the traffic.

Stay tuned each week for the Top 10 TUMS Moments to see which drivers and teams are most in need of TUMS fast relief.  For more information on TUMS Racing, visit www.TUMSracing.com.
