IMS Connects With Fans Through Twitter, Other Social Networks
Saturday January 3, 2009
INDIANAPOLIS, Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 -- The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is providing news and other information through Twitter, the popular, worldwide social networking and micro-blogging service.
Fans can follow these three simple steps to receive IMS information for free at either their personal Twitter Web page or on mobile devices:
1) Visit the Community section of the IMS Web site, http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/community .
2) Click on the “Follow Us on Twitter” logo, which will take users to the IMS Twitter page, called IMSTalk.
3) Click on the Follow button underneath the IMS Centennial Era logo to receive the IMS Twitter feed.
IMS plans to provide regular information about events, tickets, promotions, IMS trivia and much more through its Twitter feed, with opportunities for interaction with fans.
Twitter allows its users to send and read other users’ updates, often called tweets, which are text-based posts up to 140 characters long. Updates are displayed on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them.
The Twitter feed continues IMS efforts to connect with fans through online social networks. IMS also has pages on the hugely popular MySpace and Facebook networks:
•MySpace: www.myspace.com/kissthebricks
•Facebook: Type Indianapolis Motor Speedway into search field at www.facebook.com .

2009 IMS tickets: Tickets for the three events in 2009 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – the 93rd Indianapolis 500, 16th Allstate 400 at the Brickyard and second Red Bull Indianapolis GP – can be ordered online at www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com at any time.
Established in 1909, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has long prevailed as an icon of motorsports excellence. Beginning in 2009, the Speedway celebrates its Centennial Era, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the facility in 2009 and the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race in 2011.
Do you want the chance to win a free Frontstretch T-Shirt, and are you really good at talking about NASCAR? Well, we have the perfect opportunity for you. Our staff will be giving away a free T-Shirt to the reader who makes the best post in our Frontstretch Forum between now and the end of the season. So, what makes a good post? It’s pretty hard to impress us, but here are some things we are looking for:
Does your post spark passionate reactions from other readers? Are you commenting on meaningful NASCAR-related events? Do your posts have substance? In other words, “Dale Jr. is the best driver ever” or “Danica Patrick is hot” will not cut it.
So go to the Frontstretch Forums, post early, post often, and post well! We’ll announce the winner following the final race of the season at Homestead.
