Daytona International Speedway Partners With Local Hotels To Help Fans Save

Monday January 19, 2009

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 16, 2009) – Representatives of Daytona International Speedway have been working closely with local area hotel owners, the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau to help make attending DIRECTV Speedweeks at Daytona more affordable for fans in these challenging economic times, Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig announced today.

As a result of this collaboration, many hotels in the Daytona Beach and the greater Central Florida region area have reduced or altogether eliminated minimum night stay requirements.  In fact, there are a number of rooms available for less than $100. In addition, dozens of ticket packages and promotions are available that give fans added value and one-of-a-kind experiences with their race tickets during DIRECTV Speedweeks.

“We are happy to work with the Speedway on this important initiative,” said Sharon Mock, president and CEO of the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.  “Our community continues to welcome race fans each and every year but in these trying economic times, we have to be innovative to continue providing the best value for their vacation dollar.  We hope this initiative will help ease the financial burden so visitors can continue to enjoy our beaches, golf courses and certainly the exciting action on the high banks of Daytona.”

“We are fortunate to live and work in such a wonderful community as Daytona Beach and Central Florida, and are glad to have strong, creative local business partners,” said DIS President Robin Braig.  “These are challenging times for everyone and we hope our efforts make it more affordable for race fans to witness the excitement and pageantry of the Daytona 500 in person.  In addition to working with local hotels, we recently announced a $55 ticket to the Daytona 500 and have launched other initiatives such as lower priced concessions options for fans.  As always, parking is free and race fans can continue to bring their approved-sized coolers with food and beverages to the events.”

Hotel availability can be found online at http://daytonabeach.com/daytona500_availabilities.

Tickets and great camping packages for DIRECTV Speedweeks and the 51st annual Daytona 500 can be purchased online at www.daytona500.com or by calling 1-800-PITSHOP.

Daytona International Speedway’s efforts are part of a company-wide initiative that International Speedway Corporation is undertaking for race fans so that attending race events is easier and more affordable.
