DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Friday, February 27, 2009) – It’s easily one of the premier dirt track facilities in the country. From its weekly program to hosting some of the most well-known dirt racing series in the United States, Grays Harbor Raceway located in Elma, WA has joined as an ASA Member Track.
George Wade, General Manager of Grays Harbor Raceway, saw the value of what the ASA Member Track program provides and signed up for a simple reason, “Looking out for our competitors is a big thing,” Wade stated. “The ASA Member Track program has a great insurance package for the competitors and I feel it’s our duty to look out for them. Also, the ASA Member Track program is becoming well known nationally for what it offers. I know their slogan is “We Build Champions!” and I can easily say that our track builds champions and champions compete here as well.”
The 3/8-mile clay oval hosts six weekly divisions throughout the season on Saturday nights. The 6,500 seat facility also hosts some of the best touring dirt series as well, including the World of Outlaw Sprint cars.
Their 2009 seconds opens on Saturday, April 25th with their 360 Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Midgets and cruisers in action.
The ASCS Northwest Region Sprint Tour will make their first trip to Grays Harbor Raceway on May 23-24. The Warriors of Dirt Late Models compete on Saturday, June 20, and on Saturday, August 29th.
The Lucas Oil ASCS National Sprint Tour will make their first trip west of the Rockies on July 17-18 for one of the biggest events of the year.
For the first time ever, Grays Harbor Raceway will host the Rolling Thunder Big Rigs, “We are excited to have them come to compete this year,” Wade stated. “We have had a lot of calls about this event.”
Their “Big E” weekend will take place on Labor Day Weekend September 5-7 with the Northwest Wingless Tour Sprint Cars and NPP Late Models competing on the 5th, ASCS Northwest Region Sprint Tour/NPP Late Models on the 6th, and the World of Outlaws on the 7th.
The track currently has their 2009 season ticket package on sale with a savings of 30%. Season ticket package includes the World of Outlaws and the Fred Brownfield Memorial ASCS Lucas Oil National event.
“I have known George for a long time and I know he has always looked out for his competitors and fans,” Dennis Huth, American Speed Association President stated. “He runs a quality facility, treats his fans and competitors very well. When he saw what we have to offer, he jumped at the opportunity to provide competitors with the protection they need and sometimes don’t realize it until its too late. We are able to provide the competitors that outstanding plan through WSIB Motorsports Insurance. We are proud to have this premier facility as part of the ASA Member Track program.”
ASA members in good standing are eligible for a $500,000 Excess Medical Benefit as well as a $20,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit. Coverage for the member begins while traveling to a location promoting an ASA-sanctioned event and continues until arrival home again. The American Speed Association is the only sanctioning body to offer insurance coverage which extends beyond the boundary of the racetrack itself (complete details are available online at www.ASA-Racing.com).
The ASA Member Track program is comprised of more than 30 short tracks around the United States, as well as a variety of regional and national touring series.
