ASA SAT Drivers Look Forward to Lanier National Speedway (GA)

Friday April 3, 2009

Braselton, Georgia, Track Will Host Race Number Three of the 2009 Season

ATHENS, GA (April 2, 2009) – The RC Cola / MoonPie American Speed Association Southeast Asphalt Tour will head to Late Model country on Saturday, April 11th, as the tour will visit Lanier National Speedway (GA) for the first of their two stops this season at the Braselton, GA racetrack. ASA SAT rookie driver TJ Reaid, along with second-year driver Tyler Millwood, are both looking for the same thing when they head to Lanier… strong runs at their hometown tracks.

“We look forward to going to Lanier,” said Reaid. “It’s a good track for us; we really like the place. We hope we can go up there and win because it’s not too far from home. That would be real special for us.”

Reaid had an impressive first weekend with ASA SAT. The team struggled at Mobile Int’l Speedway (AL) during the opening event for 2009, but rebounded to post a third-place run at Five Flags Speedway (FL) the very next day. If Reaid can keep the car together and avoid the bad luck, his team plans on running the entire season.

“The guys in this series are top-notch racers,” said Reaid. “The top-three or four guys we ran with at Five Flags Speedway were some of the best. They all ran me clean and I have a lot of respect for them. It’s fun to get out there and bump doors and grind a little. I grew up watching racing that way and it’s cool to be doing it with ASA SAT.”

Tyler Millwood is looking forward to Lanier, even if it hasn’t been one of his best tracks in the past. He did post a 10th-place finish there a year ago and hopes to build off that. The Kingston, Georgia, driver will be gunning for a rebound weekend after finishing 13th at Five Flags.

“It’s pretty much my hometown track, but it isn’t one of my favorites. It’s really kind of tricky to get around, and I haven’t gotten a grasp on it yet. We’ll see if we can’t use it as a stepping stone to get back on track.”

Millwood finished fifth in points a year ago and is currently just outside the top 10 in the season standings.
