SSP Outback Track Spring Season Opener Features Great Racing Action

Newberrytown, PA (April 18, 2009) – There were a total of 48 participants at the opening night of the Spring Shoout-Out Series at the SSP Outback Track on Friday night, April 17. All drivers were greeted by beautiful weather and excellent track conditions.
Quarter Midget class winners include Kassidy Michael – Salunga, PA (120 Honda Junior Blue); Brooklyn Gable – New Holland, PA (120 Honda Junior Red); Devin Adams (3hp Briggs Junior Unrestricted); Austin Deibler – York Haven , PA (120 Honda Junior Unrstricted); Brent Shearer (3hp Briggs Senior Light); Austin Allison – Columbia, PA (120 Honda Senior Light); Megan Haney (5hp Briggs Senior Stock); Chase Gutshall – Middletown, PA (160 Honda Senior Light); and Richie Hitzler (160 Honda Senior Heavy and Briggs World Formula).
Kart class winners include Jordan Racine – McSherrystown, PA (Pee Wee Kid Karts); Tori Donaldson (Junior Sportsman Blue); Spencer Rudy – Etters, PA (Junior Restricted); Dylan Funk (Junior Champ Restricted); and Dalton Frye – York, PA (Senior Stock Light).
The next open practice session on Wednesday night, April 22 will be open to all classes of karts and quarter midgets. All practice participants should enter via the back gate on Kise Mill Road (exit gate during Outback Track races). On Wednesday night, the back gate will open at 5:30 p.m. with practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost is $20.00 per driver (who practices on the track) and no charge for anyone else entering the pit area for the open practice sessions.
The second race of the 9-race Spring Shoot-Out Series will be Friday night, April 24. The pit gates will open 5:00 p.m. with a driver’s meeting at 7:00 p.m. Open practice will be from 6:15 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. and racing action begins at 7:15 p.m. There will be no sanctioning body affiliation for either karts or quarter midgets, but the technical/specification rules will be very similar to the major sanctioning groups for these types of cars (W.K.A. and QMA). The entry fees for each class will be $15.00 per entry and participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class). Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class. No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.
Pit pass prices for races at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 15 & older; Children ages 9 – 14 are $5.00; Children 8 years of age and under are $3.00. Hand held infants are admitted free.
The 10-race Summer Shoot-Out Series will begin on Friday, June 17 and conclude on Saturday, August 28. Special races during the fall will be announced in the future. There will be separate point champions crowned from both the Spring and Summer Shoot-Out Series.
Everyone with a pit pass from the Outback Track will receive the $2.00 Repeat Fan Discount towards grandstand tickets for the next night’s racing events at the “Big Track.” Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases at the “Big Track.”
