Stock Car Saturday Night On Tap for June 20 at SSP

Free Admission for All Residents of Maryland; Wednesday Night Test & Tune on June 17 Postponed Until Wednesday June 24.

Newberrytown, PA (June 17, 2009) – Racing action returns to the Susquehanna Speedway Park this weekend on Saturday night, June 20 at 7:00 p.m featuring the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Legends Cars (2 features) and Road Warriors. The June 20 race event will also be the “Hometown Heroes” night featuring the towns throughout Maryland. All fans entering the speedway from anywhere in the entire state of Maryland will be admitted FREE to the grandstands by showing proper photo identification and filling out an information card at the ticket booth. Before the races begin, the drivers from those hometowns will have the bring their cars to the frontstretch to meet the fans just before the National Anthem at 7:00 p.m.

Last Saturday night, Carl Graves of Duncannon became the eighth different Late Model feature winner in as many events at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night. Enola’s Garrett Shover made his way to victory lane for the second time this season by winning the 20-lap Street Stock main feature event. Tommy Slanker of York won his third Xtreme Stock Car feature in a row. Dover’s Brian Lomman won the XSC Rookie Rumble. Paul Bacchus of Valencia collected the 12-lap PENNMAR Vintage Car main event. Brian Lefebvre of Etters won the 10-lap Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van feature event.

Last Sunday night, Meme Desantis returned to the SSP in a big way to pick up the $2,200 victory in the 358 Small Block Modified Summer Championship on Sunday night. Adrian Shaffer claimed the 20-lap 358 Sprint Car feature event. Reed Salony returned to victory lane by winning the 15-lap Legends Cars feature race.

On Saturday night, racing action begins at 7:00 p.m. Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for the Season Opener on Saturday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $12.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $10.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $22.00 with a reduced price of $20.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.

The popular “Repeat Fan Discount” program will continue at SSP in 2009 for the sixth straight season. This is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

All tickets and pit passes (except comp pit passes) from Saturday night, May 16 will be honored for the next six weeks. A ticket stub or pit wristband is required to receive a new ticket or pit pass.

Action returns to the SSP Outback Track on Friday night, June 19 at 7:15 p.m. featuring quarter midget and go kart racing action. This will be the first race of the Summer Shoot-Out Series.

The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located midway between Harrisburg and York off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road, then 1.3 miles south.
