Newberrytown, PA (June 19, 2009) – The first race of the Summer Shoot-Out Series at the SSP Outback Track took place on Friday night, June 19.
Quarter Midget class winners include Logan Spahr – Lewisberry, PA (120 Honda Junior Blue); Brooklyn Gable – New Holland, PA (120 Honda Junior Red); Austin Deibler – York Haven, PA (120 Honda Junior Unrestricted); Kasey Kreider – Salunga, PA (3hp Briggs Junior Unrestricted & 3hp Briggs Senior Light); Colin Myers – Jonestown, PA (120 Honda Senior Light & 160 Honda Senior Light); and Darren Schott – Myerstown, PA (Briggs World Formula).
Kart class winners include Tanner Talbot Wrightsville, PA (Junior Sportsman Purple); Dylan Funk – Stewartstown, PA (Junior Champ Sportsman Purple); Eric Ritchey – Dover, PA (Senior Stock Light); and Jason Funk (Senior Stock Heavy).
The Adult Speedcar feature winner was Brandt Cook of Dover, PA followed by Rich Baker and Jim Salter. Paul Fisher rounded out the field. Holly Cook did not race due to flipping the car in warmups but she expects to be back on the track for next week’s racing action.
The next open practice session on Wednesday night, June 24 (rescheduled from Wed., June 17) will be open to all classes of karts and quarter midgets. All practice participants should enter via the back gate on Kise Mill Road (exit gate during Outback Track races). On Wednesday night, the back gate will open at 5:30 p.m. with practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost is $20.00 per driver (who practices on the track) and no charge for anyone else entering the pit area for the open practice sessions.
The next race of the Summer Shoot-Out Series will be Friday night, June 26. The 10-race Summer Shoot-Out Series began on Friday, June 19 and will conclude on Saturday, August 28. The pit gates will open 5:00 p.m. with a driver’s meeting at 7:15 p.m. Open practice will be from 6:45 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. and racing action begins at 7:30 p.m. There will be no sanctioning body affiliation for either karts or quarter midgets, but the technical/specification rules will be very similar to the major sanctioning groups for these types of cars (W.K.A. and QMA). The entry fees for each class will be $15.00 per entry and participants may enter more than one class on a raceday ($12.00 for each additional class). Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each class. No participants will be denied racing as SSP will make every effort to define a class for all drivers who wish to compete.
Pit pass prices for races at the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 15 & older; Children ages 9 – 14 are $5.00; Children 8 years of age and under are $3.00. Hand held infants are admitted free.
Everyone with a pit pass from the Outback Track will receive the $2.00 Repeat Fan Discount towards grandstand tickets for the next night’s racing events at the “Big Track.” Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases at the “Big Track.”
