Ovid, Michigan (Thursday, July 2, 2009): Fast Track Promotions and the
Owosso Speedway are very proud to announce a very special race for the
Drive Train Specialists Pro Late Models; The Ray Prieur Memorial, to
be held on Saturday, July 25th.
The Weekly Local Racing Series Pro Late Models are already scheduled
for that night and will now headline the evening’s festivities which
will also feature the Affordable Tire and Service Center Go-Kart
giveaway as well as a 100-lap Front Wheel Drive Enduro. In addition,
the Affordable Tire and Service Center Pro Stocks and
RacingPartSales.com Pure Stocks will also be in action.
The Ray Prieur Memorial is dedicated to the memory of Ray Prieur, a
former tech official at Owosso Speedway, a former crew member for
several race teams in the 1980s and 1990s, and “Professional Race Fan”
who passed away on October 9, 2006. Prieur’s son is Owosso Speedway
Director of Media / Public Relations – P.A. Announcer, Matt Prieur.
The Drive Train Specialists Pro Late Models will go 44 laps in there
feature and the purse for the event is being finalized and will be
announced as soon as it becomes available. With the extended laps for
the event, the payout for this event is guaranteed to only increase!
At the minimum, this race will pay $700 to win and $125 to start.
The race will also remain a regular point’s event in the chase for the
2009 Pro Late Models Track Championship at the Big “O” and will follow
Owosso Speedway rules and procedures, which are identical to Owosso’s
sister track to the Northeast, the Dixie Motor Speedway, allowing
teams from both tracks to participate.
“I’ve always wanted to do something special to honor my Dad. This is a
great way to honor him. He’s the one responsible for everything I do
in the auto racing industry.” Matt Prieur explained.
“He instilled the love I have for this sport and I’ll always be
grateful to him. We’re (The Prieur Family) only doing this once, so we
want to make this a very special event and one that will be remembered
for years to come.” He ended.

Do you want the chance to win a free Frontstretch T-Shirt, and are you really good at talking about NASCAR? Well, we have the perfect opportunity for you. Our staff will be giving away a free T-Shirt to the reader who makes the best post in our Frontstretch Forum between now and the end of the season. So, what makes a good post? It’s pretty hard to impress us, but here are some things we are looking for:
Does your post spark passionate reactions from other readers? Are you commenting on meaningful NASCAR-related events? Do your posts have substance? In other words, “Dale Jr. is the best driver ever” or “Danica Patrick is hot” will not cut it.
So go to the Frontstretch Forums, post early, post often, and post well! We’ll announce the winner following the final race of the season at Homestead.
