Ryan Truex Driver Diary: On to the Nationwide Series!

Ryan Truex · Friday July 16, 2010

I’m heading to Gateway International Raceway this weekend for my first Nationwide Series race and I can’t wait to strap into the car. I’m nervous and excited, but I know the feeling will all sink in when I complete the first lap of the 200-lap race. I just can’t thank everyone enough at NAPA and Michael Waltrip Racing for giving me this opportunity. Three years ago I remember racing a Legend car at Wall Stadium in New Jersey. Now I’m not only contending for a second championship in the K&N Pro Series East, I’m entering the Nationwide garage. It’s hard to believe how fast it’s come, but I’m ready to get started and make the most of my opportunity.

Ryan Truex Driver Diary: Lots of Competition and What I Learn From My Brother

Ryan Truex · Friday June 11, 2010

It’s been a while since I talked to you guys, but our season has started off real well. We’ve been pretty much the car to beat every weekend, we just haven’t had the luck that we had last year. But we’re getting up there and getting good finishes. We should have finished better at Iowa, but we got caught out on older tires. At Martinsville we got second, and we were the car to beat there too. Unfortunately the rain screwed us up there. Martinsville I really wanted to win, because of the grandfather clock trophy and the history of running the first East Series race there. But we’re running great, and we’re leading the points. I think we can keep running well and score another championship.

Ryan Truex Driver Diary: Gearing Up for NASCAR 2010

Ryan Truex · Wednesday March 17, 2010

Ryan Truex does a monthly driver diary for Frontstretch.com. In his latest edition, the Camping World East driver talks about the start of the upcoming season, gives his opinion on the Carl Edwards – Brad Keselowski fracas, and updates us on how his brother’s doing with his new Sprint Cup operation.

We’re getting ready to go test at Greenville. We’re going to try to learn some stuff there for the race. Then we’re testing Thursday at South Boston. It’ll be good to do some stuff this week, to get back in the car and learn how to drive it again, since I haven’t been in it for so long. Just trying to get ready for the year.

Ryan Truex Driver Diary: Title Defense and Winter at The Jersey Shore

Ryan Truex · Friday February 5, 2010

Running the All-Star Showdown at Irwindale and being out there with the best short-track racers in the country was definitely good experience. I mean, you’re out there with guys like Joey Logano and Matt Kobyluck that have won it before. It’s a tough race to win. It’s a good track to learn at, you can run three and four wide there for 150 laps non-stop. It’s definitely a unique place, I’ve never been anywhere like that.

I think we could have won the race. I don’t think we had the best car, but I definitely think we could have challenged them for it. But, sometimes stuff happens. It was a cool place to go, experience, and learn as much as I can. And it went pretty good, apart from getting wrecked.
