Baker Survives Mother Nature to Score $2,000 Lancaster NDRA Win

Tuesday July 31, 2012

Brandy Baker added his name to an impressive list of racers who have captured NDRA Road Show presented by Heintz Performance feature wins in 2012 as the veteran racer claimed the $2,000 win at Lancaster Speedway Saturday night.

Baker, who competes weekly at Lancaster in several divisions, used his extensive knowledge of the big ½ mile oval to set fast time in qualifying.

Steve Banal, who made repairs after a hard wreck on Friday night at Carolina Speedway, joined Baker on the front row. As the green waved Baker bolted to the lead on a super-fast surface that had two different rain showers on it during the program.

Rambo Franklin quickly joined the lead duo and made it a three car race for the lead as the Gaffney, SC veteran drove to second. Ross Bailes, aboard the John Page owned Mastersbilt also joined the trio as he rallied to third, past Banal and began to put some heat on Franklin, who was all over Baker for the lead.

With the lead trio racing door to door once again Mother Nature showed up as it began to rain. The event was called officially on lap 33 with Baker securing the victory. Franklin, Bailes, Banal and Jeff Smith completed the top five.

Sixth through tenth wen to Ron Parker, Gib Gibbons, Timbo Mangum, Jonathan Edwards and Matt Long.
