Weekend Sees New Speedrome Winners Five Take Checkered Flags in Roadrunner, Hornet Features

Wednesday August 15, 2012

On Friday August 10th and Saturday August 11th

Roadrunner History Adds Harold Bruce to 2012 Honor Roll

The Roadrunners at the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome® aim to steal the show each and every time on the track. The competition is so intense and even for every lap. For example, there have been 12 different winners in 19 main events with no driver having more than 2 victories. This past Saturday added to that mystique. One of the division’s young lions Harold Bruce put together 20 strong circuits to hoist his first checkered flag. The win also cut the gap Bruce has to the leading rookie-of-the-year candidate Jeremy Pierce. The feature contest saw Harold hold-off Chase for the Cup standings leader Brian Canter for the win. Lee Schwartz, who also shined in his new Stock class machine this same evening, was the final driver on the podium. Casey Lee and Schwartz captured preliminary heat races earlier in the afternoon.

Shumaker, VanValkenburg, Reel Top Hornet Weekend Wins List

The four-cylinder speedsters known as Hornets had a doubleheader weekend of events including oval and Figure 8 contests. It all started Friday August 10th when point leader Cody Shumaker increased his chances of winning a first career title in the evening’s oval main event. Cody captured his league leading 4th feature triumph over Junior Lemasters and Casey Davis. The Figure 8 action had the racers taking the opposite direction in the feature. Chase for the Cup leader Don VanValkenburg III continued his mastery of the crossover course with his 14th regular season win. Davis took second with John Klingenstein third. Saturday was all oval for the furious pack. Fans saw a first-time winner enter the record books. Rookie Josh Reel thrilled the crowd on his way to that checkered flag. Past title contender Eddie Small returned to form with a runner-up result. VanValkenburg was third. Weekend heat contests were topped by Lemasters, DVV3, Small, and Brittany Dailey.

Junior Hornet Series Has Teepe Taking Two

July Junior Hornet champion Andrew Teepe made his plans know that he wants a second title with a strong weekend. The Honda Prelude pilot scored feature victories on both Friday and Saturday nights. The teenage son of reigning Stock champion Speedy Teepe added wins number 6 & 7 to his regular season resume. This extends his mark as the class’s all-time leader in checkered flags during this inaugural campaign. Layne Pulliam, who earned his first feature win a week earlier, showed his continued improvement placing second in both contests and in the August standings. Truck racer Justin Green also added a pair of podium finishes to his season statistics. June champion Jordan Hahn won the Friday night heat. The growing division also boasted appearances by Cory Adams, Eddie Snapp III, and first-timer Quentin White.
