Tommy Lemons, Jr. will be chasing the Dirty Dozen crown after a successful 2012 season. Lemons is looking for more after scoring four wins in 2012.
Along with running the Dirty Dozen races at Southern National Motorsports Park and Motor Mile Speedway, Lemons will also return to run the 2012 Myrtle Beach 400 on March 22, 2013. He will also run races at Myrtle Beach, Caraway, Hickory, South Boston and run in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 and the 2013 Myrtle Beach 400.
Lemons’ expectations are high for 2013 after a strong 2012 season.
“I really don’t see why we should back up from last season,” said Lemons. “We should be able to do that again. Hopefully we’ll do more than that. It’ll be a great year. As far as running for a championship, I had more fun racing week-by-week for victories last season instead of running for a championship somewhere. Our main goal is to race for victories.”
Lemons scored two victories at Caraway Speedway and two victories at Motor Mile Speedway in 2012. His performances at Motor Mile suggest he will be a contender in the Dirty Dozen.
“I think we’ve got as good a shot as anyone at Dirty Dozen,” said Lemons. “Our results at Southern National last year weren’t as good as we’d like. We had some problems that were out of our control. We were as strong as Lee Pulliam at the end of the season at Motor Mile so I think we have a pretty good shot.”
After the Dirty Dozen opener, Lemons said he would go to Myrtle Beach and run the Myrtle Beach 400. Lemons will aim to take advantage of a fifth place start at Myrtle Beach.
The Dirty Dozen season opener will run on Saturday, March 2nd with open practice for the race on Friday, March 1st.
Lemons is supported by Lemons Backhoe, Hedgecock Racing Enterprises, Kowlasky Racing Engines, and Sellers Racing. For more information on Tommy Lemons, Jr. or the Lemons Motorsports team, check out their new website at www.tommylemonsjr.com.
