The Greatest Show on Dirt Returns to The Dirt Track at Charlotte May 24 with Exciting Stunts, an Autograph Session And Action-Packed Racing

Monday May 6, 2013

Fans will be able to get the autographs of their dirt track heroes during the Outlaw Showdown at the Dirt Track at Charlotte.

CONCORD, N.C. (May 6, 2013) – The focus will shift from NASCAR racing to The Greatest Show on Dirt on May 24 as the stars of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series battle it out at The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown.

The Friday-night event is part of Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 10 greatest days of racing, which is bookended by the two biggest back-to-back events on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule – the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday, May 18 and the ultimate test of man and machine, the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 26.

The Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown will provide more entertainment than ever before, starting with a free autograph session at 4:45 p.m. on the main concourse featuring drivers like Tony Stewart Racing’s Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz, and Kasey Kahne Racing’s Cody Darrah and Daryn Pittman.

Fans will also be treated to two high-flying stunts that will leave them at the edge of their seats. At 5:30 p.m., Dr. Danger and his team will attempt to jump two cars off ramps into a pyramid of cars.

“We’re going to do six stunts in one. It’s quite complicated, we’ve never done it before,” said Dr. Danger. “We are exploring uncharted territory!”

Prior to the night’s A-Mains, the notorious Mr. Dizzy will attempt to corkscrew a limousine into a bed of cars. Both stunts will be documented by crews from the HISTORY Channel for an upcoming episode of “American Daredevils.”

Gates open at 4 p.m., with opening ceremonies scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Feature racing will start at 8:40 p.m. when the NDRA Crate Late Model Series takes to the track for a 25-lap A-Main. Then the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will wrap things up with 30 laps of non-stop, clay-slinging action in the $12,000-to-win A-Main.

Reserved seats to the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown are just $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 13 and under. For just $15, fans 14 and older can upgrade their ticket to include a pit pass. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Charlotte Motor Speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267) or online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com.
