Tony Lumbis
The 1992 Hanes 500 at Martinsville would change Tony Lumbis’ life forever. After hearing a friend rave about a sport called NASCAR for several months, a curious 11-year-old finally decided to check out these stock car races for himself. On that April day, he watched the No. 6 Valvoline Ford driven by Mark Martin cross the finish line first, and NASCAR quickly had itself another new fan. Tony would continue following the series throughout the year, gaining respect for the Arkansas driver for both his tenacity on the track and his demeanor off it. The rest, as they say, is history.
Tony is now in his fourth year of writing for the Frontstretch. After covering the Sprint Cup rookies for three of those years, he has launched a new article for the site called “Dollars and Sense” which focuses on the business aspects of the sport, and also serves as the Frontstretch.com Marketing Manager. Both of these tasks fit in line with Tony’s interests in sports management, a passion he had since he was in junior high and built on by attending Mike Calinoff’s “Getting into Racing Seminar” in 2006,
Tony lives in Devon, PA, works as a business analyst for a mortgage company and is pursuing his MBA part-time at the University of Delaware. When he’s not watching racing, he enjoys running, going to the gym, playing (or attempting to play) the drums, reading, golfing, racquetball, traveling, stargazing and rooting on his Philadelphia sports teams.

Q & A With Tony Lumbis:
What’s Your Favorite Vacation Spot? The Delaware beaches and Ocean City, MD. I’ve been going there with the family since I was young and continue to go with both friends and family. It’s like a second home to me and I love being at the beach in general.
Favorite Racetracks on the NASCAR Circuit: Pocono (Hometown track), Dover and Richmond (not a bad seat in the house at these places and great racing), and Charlotte (One of Mark Martin’s most successful tracks and the site of my favorite victory of his: The 2002 Coca-Cola 600).
What’s Your Favorite Musical Artist? I can’t say that I have just one. I like a wide variety, everything from 60’s classics to Bon Jovi and Def Leppard and Guns N’Roses in the 80’s, and I recently became a big fan of the Stone Temple Pilots and their hits over the past two decades or so. Like many things about me, my music tastes are varied and don’t always make sense.
Favorite TV Show(s): Friday Night Lights, The Apprentice, V, Anything Sports Related
What Is Your Coolest Acquisition This Year? A 42’ LG LCD TV. It’s your typical TV these days, but considering it was an upgrade from one that it was 13 years old, I’m pretty excited. Nice to know what HD actually looks like!
