Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has called a press conference for 11:00 AM Wednesday out of his race shop in Mooresville, NC. The purpose of the conference will be to announce he’s driving the No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports beginning in 2008, multiple sources are telling Frontstretch.com this afternoon.
The press conference, televised live on SPEED, will last for one hour during which Junior will supposedly reveal his plans for the future. While speculation has run rampant that Richard Childress Racing, then Joe Gibbs Racing were the frontrunners to land Junior, it appears he’ll go to the powerhouse that’s been dominating Nextel Cup to the tune of ten wins in fourteen races this season.
At the moment, sources are conflicted in what will happen to Kyle Busch; some say he’ll be headed to Dale Earnhardt, Inc. in an unprecedented driver swap, while others say his future is undetermined as of yet. However, with Joe Gibbs Racing, Ginn Racing, and RCR all denying they’re a part of the press conference tomorrow, it seems clearer than ever that Junior is headed towards joining the Hendrick Motorsports clan – at Kyle Busch’s expense.
