ACM’s Top New Vocal Group to sing prior to Coke Zero 400 Powered by Coca-Cola
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Newly crowned ACM’s Top New Vocal Group and Capitol Nashville recording artists Lady Antebellum will perform a 50-minute Pre-Race Concert and the National Anthem prior to the start of the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, July 5th.
The hot new group, who is made up of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, had its new album debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Chart, and their first single “Love Don’t Live Here,” reached an impressive No. 3 on the Billboard Country Singles Chart. The band’s second single, “Looking for a Good Time,” was just released and is already one of the most downloaded songs at country radio stations.
The trio recently earned “Top New Group” honors at the 2008 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. They’ve performed on the legendary Grand Ole Opry, served as the opening act on Martina McBride’s 2008 arena tour, and opened shows for superstars including Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw and Alan Jackson. Media outlets like Billboard, the Associated Press, People, Country Weekly, MSN Music and the Boston Globe included Lady Antebellum among their annual shortlists of artists to watch in 2008, and Nashville Lifestyles magazine flat-out called them “the next big thing.”
“We’re thrilled to have one of the hottest bands in country music perform a concert and the National Anthem before the Coke Zero 400 Weekend,” said Speedway President Robin Braig. “Lady Antebellum’s performance will be one of the highlights of this year’s exciting holiday weekend.”
The group’s sound is a unique blend that mingles classic country, 1960s R&B soulfulness and the heart-on-the-sleeve openness of 1970s singer-songwriters, all presented with a razor-sharp contemporary edge.
Lady Antebellum will take the Driver’s Introduction stage at the start/finish line on Pit Road at 6:20 pm for the performance. A Sprint FANZONE admission will provide access to the concert, driver introductions and all activities in the Sprint FANZONE prior to and during the race.
Tickets for the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola and Sprint FANZONE admissions are available online at http://www.racetickets.com or by calling 1-800-PITSHOP.
