Martinsville Speedway Welcomes Camping World As New NASCAR Truck Series Sponsor
Thursday October 23, 2008
MARTINSVILLE, VA (October 23, 2008) – The intense action will be the same, but there will be a new series name – the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – when the Kroger 250 takes the green flag at Martinsville Speedway on March 28.
NASCAR revealed Thursday that Camping World will be the title sponsor for the NASCAR Truck Series beginning in 2009. Camping World will replace longtime series sponsor Craftsman, which had been series’ only title sponsor in its 13-year history.
The new sponsorship is a seven-year agreement.
“We look forward to a long relationship with Camping World,” said Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell. “Craftsman has been a great and loyal partner and I know it’s going to be the same way with Camping World.
“On race weekends at Martinsville Speedway, the surrounding area looks like a huge campground with RVs and every type of camper imaginable. And that happens at every track the Camping World Truck Series visits, so it’s going to be a perfect match.”
Martinsville Speedway hosts two Camping World Truck Series races a year, each in conjunction with a NASCAR Sprint Cup race. The 2008 dates are the Kroger 250 on March 28, the day before the GOODY’S Fast Relief 500, and the Kroger 200 on October 28, the day before the TUMS 500.
Martinsville has hosted at least one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race ever since its inception in 1995.
Founded in 1966, Camping World is America’s largest direct marketer and specialty retailer of recreational vehicles and outdoor camping accessories and services. The company grew from a single point location in Bowling Green, Ky., to operating successful nationwide Supercenters.
