Grammy-Nominated ‘Buckcherry’ To Perform Prior To Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola

Friday July 3, 2009

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Grammy-nominated rock band “Buckcherry” will pump up race fans with a pre-race concert prior to the 51st annual Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday, July 4 at Daytona International Speedway.

“Buckcherry” will perform four songs on the Pre-Race stage along pit road prior to the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola, which features the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series under the lights in a 160-lap, 400-mile race.

All race fans that purchase a Sprint FANZONE/Pre-Race pass will be able to view “Buckcherry’s” performance as well as the driver introductions from the grass tri-oval area.

“The concert by ‘Buckcherry’ is another great pre-race activity for race fans to add to their to-do list for the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola,” Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig said. “ ‘Buckcherry’ will deliver a pulse-pounding performance for the race fans before one of NASCAR’s most exciting nighttime spectacles.”

“Buckcherry,” which consists of Josh Todd on vocals, Xavier Muriel on drums, Jimmy Ashhurst on bass and Keith Nelson and Stevie D. on guitar, scored their first Billboard Hot 100 and Pop 100 top-10 hit “Sorry” from their Grammy-nominated album 15. In 2008, “Buckcherry” released their fourth album Black Butterfly, which features the single “Rescue Me,” a current top-20 hit on the Billboard Rock and Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks.

The multi-platinum group is co-headlining arenas nationwide in support of their Black Butterfly, which was named iTunes Rock Album of the Year and has produced three multi-format hits including “Don’t Go Away” and “Rescue Me.”

Turner Network Television (TNT), which will be televising the upcoming Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola, has joined forces with Buckcherry to feature the band’s version of Deep Purple’s hit single “Highway Star” as the network’s theme song for its 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series coverage. The song will serve as the primary musical bed for all of the TNT’s races, as well as for the network’s multiplatform marketing campaign surrounding its exclusive race coverage.

Tickets for the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola on Saturday night, July 4 are available on your web-enabled phone at mobile.daytonainternationalspeedway.com, online at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com or by calling 1-800-PITSHOP.
