San Bernardino County, Calif. (September 1, 2009) – Auto Club Speedway and The NASCAR Foundation will hold its 4th Annual Blood Drive on Friday, Sept. 11 at Auto Club Speedway. The drive will be held from 1-6 p.m. at the Speedway, 9300 Cherry Ave. in Fontana. The Life Stream bloodmobile will be on hand as will the Inland Empire’s Country Music Leader KFROG (95.1 FM).
Those donating to the effort, which will take place at the Speedway’s Opportunity, California FanZone, will receive a FREE track tour, a gift bag, generously donated by 3M and the chance to win The NASCAR Foundation 2009 “VIP Track Experience,” which include two tickets to a NASCAR sanctioned race. But most importantly, each donor joins a select group as currently only 3 out of every 100 people in America donate blood. Thanks to the generosity of donors, Life Stream can perform extraordinary acts in the face of emergencies. For more information on donating blood, please visit www.lstream.org.
Race fans donating blood can also take advantage of a one-day-only ticket offer for the Pepsi 500 on Oct. 11 – Southern California’s Inaugural Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race. On Sept. 11 ONLY, purchase any Pepsi 500 ticket and get a certificate for a hot lap in the Auto Club Speedway pace car during Stater Bros. Racefest presented by Pepsi. (Hot laps to take place between 4-6 p.m. during Racefest on Oct. 8.) For more information on other Pepsi 500 ticket offers visit www.autoclubspeedway.com
Stater Bros. Racefest presented by Pepsi is free to the public and will be held in the Opportunity, California FanZone Thursday, Oct. 8, 5 – 9:30 p.m. The fun-filled evening will include a special appearance by Jeff Gordon, driver autograph sessions with Mark Martin, Joey Logano and Marcos Ambrose to name a few, live music, rides, games, souvenir rigs, a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series hauler parade, on-site silent auctions and great food and beverages. For more information on Racefest, please visit www.autoclubspeedway.com.
Each year The NASCAR Foundation Blood Drive mobilizes some of NASCAR’s biggest entities – tracks, drivers, teams and sponsors – in an effort to help meet the on-going need for more than 39,000 blood donations every day. The national effort, spearheaded by The NASCAR Foundation, aims to help maintain safe blood supply levels and lessen the blood shortages that often occur during the summer months and around holidays.
In 2008, 29 tracks participated in the national drive. The NASCAR Foundation’s overall drive collected 4,261 pints of blood, potentially saving more than 12,000 lives. To learn more about The NASCAR Foundation, visit www.nascar.com/foundation.
