Avondale, Ariz. – Rookie Nextel Cup driver and Phoenix native JJ Yeley, in conjunction with Phoenix International Raceway, announced plans today for a spring 2006 golf tournament to benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
The event will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Kierland Golf Club and will feature fellow NASCAR drivers and personalities along with local dignitaries. The draw party for the tournament will be on Wednesday, March 7th.
“I am so excited about getting the opportunity to use my position as a NASCAR driver to pair up with the great people at Phoenix International Raceway to host the first ever No. 18 Drives For Kids, JJ Yeley Charity Golf Classic to benefit the Phoenix Children’s Hospital,” Yeley said. “I never dreamed that I would get the opportunity to help people like I’ve been able to this year.
“As a native of Phoenix, it’s important for me to give back to the community, and as a father, it’s especially important to do something special for Phoenix children that need our help. With the No. 18 Drives for Kids, we hope to continue to give back to the Phoenix community for many years to come.”
Brian Sperber, President of Phoenix International Raceway, shared Yeley’s enthusiasm for the event.
“We are thrilled to partner with JJ Yeley to bring this exciting NASCAR event to Phoenix,” said Sperber. “This golf classic is going to be an exciting shootout and will provide great support to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. We are excited that the NASCAR community can come together for the benefit of the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. With JJ’s leadership, we know the JJ Yeley Charity Golf Classic will be a success.”
