Carl Edwards Wins 2009 CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 Pole at Charlotte

Dodging rain drops and bright sunshine, the Nationwide Series completed their qualifying for tonight’s CARQUEST Auto Parts 300. 50 cars attempted qualifying runs and in the end, Carl Edwards was the fastest of them all. Edwards turned a lap of 29.480 seconds for a speed of 183.175 mph. Edwards was the only driver to exceed 183 mph. Starting on the outside of the front row will be Kyle Busch. Busch logged in at 29.517 seconds for a lap of 182.945 mph.

Almost making it an all-Roush front row was Greg Biffle, who timed in third with a lap of 29.582 seconds and a speed of 182.482 mph. Biffle went out 19th for qualifying and was followed by Busch and then Edwards two spots later. Shortly after Edwards went out the sun came out and the warming track conditions seemed to impact the rest of the qualifiers negatively.

David Ragan continued the Roush strong showing by qualifying fourth and Brian Vickers rounded out the top five. The rest of the top 10 consists of Michael McDowell starting sixth, David Gilliland starting seventh, Kevin Harvick eighth, Jeff Burton ninth and Mike Bliss 10th.
